Hello,
I am hoping someone would kindly check the Manitou cemetery transcription (if there is one?) for:

Mary Easton, d. 1908, wife of George B. Henry

Hannah Metcalf(e) and Nicholas Kealey (death dates unknown). They had children Helena, Sarah E., James Winnard, Herbert John, Nicholas, Sylvester, and Wilfred.

If there were other Kealey's (or near spelling variations) and Metcalfes I'd be curious if that's not too much to ask.

Thanks in advance!

Harkness - Roseisle

James Henry Harkness - Born Fort William, ON (now Thunder Bay, ON) and married Louisa Bilbe Jan 20, 1908, Fort William. They had 3 children and moved to Rose Isle, Manitoba (I suspect sometime after 1911) where they operated a general store and post office. Following his death she continued the operation until she was married in Winnipeg to John H. Kemp on May 19, 1923, and returned to Fort William with him.

According to the obit for Louisa, James Harkness died in Manitoba about 1920. I did an online check for this death but could not find it.

I have a copy of their son's piano test - "Examination in Practical Music" for Jack Harkness by Mrs. Larson Carman on Friday July 11 (no year given) at Carman Centre - appears to be signed by the Examiner - W.H. Fhinn (or Thinn) possibly.

Could anyone please check for: 1)cemetery records in Roseisle Manitoba (possibly Protestant) to confirm that James Harkness is buried in Manitoba; 2) Obituary for James Harkness; 3) Directory listing to indicate residence in Rose Isle or perhaps school registration information. OR, if you could advise where I can find information as I reside in Ontario and seem to have exhausted my search resources on the web. Thanks

Abbotsford News - Abbotsford, BC

We sadly acknowledge the passing of Lillian May Beeston at MSA Hospital, Abbotsford, B.C. on May 22, 2007 predeceased by her husband and a daughter. She was born November 27, 1910 in Snowflake, Manitoba.
Always a positive and cheerful person with a zest for life, she was a great role model for her family and maintained a good sense of humour to the last. A very caring person herself, she certainly appreciated all the visits and cards from friends and family during her stay in the hospital. They meant a great deal to her.
Lillian, one of the founding members of Matsqui OAP, Branch #69, remained an active member until quite recently.
Surviving family members are 'son' Rod, daughter Janice, grandchildren Peter, David, Jennifer, Jon and his fiancé Mirna as well as many nieces and nephews in Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. She will be sorely missed not only by family but also by any who knew her.
The family wishes to convey their thanks and appreciation to the nursing staff on 3 West for their care and concern.
A celebration of life team is planned for June 9th to be held in the common room at Royal Oaks, 32910 Amicus Place, from 2 - 4 p.m..
Hello

I'm looking for information on the location of the Cornelius Jacob Isaak farm in Manitou. The lived there from about 1928 till 1943. They apparently bought the farm (quarter section or perhaps 2) and then lost it in a tax sale in the miod 1930's but continued on on a lease basis. Isaak children attending Midland school were Abe, Cornelius, John, Peter, Mary and Lydia

Apparently they lived near 2 familiesof Bradley's and were within walking distance of the Midland (elementary) School.

Can anyone advise were old tax records are or perhaps lists of farms lost in tax sales?

Any leads would be appreciated.

I am trying to trace any information about the family of Karl/Carl and Caroline(Kelm) Florkosky (spelling differs quite a bit)who lived in the Emerson area of Manitoba. Caroline arrived with the three oldest children in March of 1913 from Russia. The family was German/Russian. The ship manifest says that she is meeting her husband Karl in Emerson. The family continued to live in the area at least into the 1920's. The children's names were Rudolph(Ray), Anna, Theresa, Olga Elise, William, Abert, Jean and Henry. As far as I know, Olga through Henry were all born in the Emerson area. The family also had family connections in North Dakota, possibly through the Kelm's. Thank you.
Anne

Hi, My gg grandfather and family are shown on the 1881 census for Emerson, and then family legend has it that he was killed while working a section of the CPR. I believe that he was killed between 1881 and 1885, because he is not shown on the 1885 census, although his wife and children are.
Anyone have any idea where I could look to get info about the accident? I would love to know where he is buried.
thanks, Barb Wood.

Thanks Bette for this Information .. and it's very much appreciated .. I will show this information to a older cousin of mine .. as I believe your on the right track with the 1901 census names .. These names mentioned might ring a bell with him .. I do know that my grandfather's brothers name was Jacob .. But it was always thought they all came together to this country .. with another brother and a sister .. in or around 1900 .. But I guess not ..Our spelling of the name Kendel to Kendall was changed in aprox 1910 or so .. However my Grandfather George kept his the old way .. Thank you again .. Terry

Ryall Hotel Carman Manitoba

I am looking for any information on the history of the Ryall hotel in Carman Manitoba that burned down a couple of nights ago. I know that it is named after my great-great uncle Ed Ryall. My grandmother lived there for a while as a child and cannot remember if it was Ed Ryall who built the hotel. There is rumors of a newspaper article (possibly the Winnipeg Sun) stating that the hotel was previously called the Victoria. This has sparked some questions from my family members who are positive that Ed Ryall built it. Any help on this or any info on the Ryall family in Carman Manitoba would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

Does any one have information on this family as far as who the other kids married? I have reviewed all the census, but I would really like to find someone who had an old family bible or journal.
