I note Phyllis Haynen's statement about her ancestor being a railroad conductor in Manitoba in the 1880s.
My maternal uncle, Charles P. Bliss, was listed in the 1891 census for Winnipeg Dist. No. 10 as being a railroad brakeman.
I'm hoping to find out what became of his father, George Pidgeon Bliss, a civil engineer living in Winnipeg in that year. His large family was broken up in 1893 after the death of his wife, the former Sophia Humphreys, and I lose track of him after that.
