Trying to locate info on my great uncle,Matija Marentic, who immigrated from Slovenia in 1928 to Canada. His destination was C.A. Van Scoy, Winnipeg. I have read that Van Scoy worked for the Canadian Railway and did publicity in magazines to encouragre immigration to Winnipeg. He wrote ads advertising land for sail and the Canadian Railway would give immigrants free passage to Winnipeg so they could see the land they would buy. Matija Marentic never communicated with his family in Slovenia and no one knows what happened to him. Any suggestions on how I could search for him. He arrived in Quebec from Hamburg in 1928. That is all I could find.
