Jewish Russians in Winnepeg

I am researching Max and Philip Baraniski who arrived in Canada in 1903 per a census record. Supposedly they were born in the Ukraine: Philip in 1875 and Max in 1879. I do not know how they were related but am guessing they were brothers.

Max's family is listed with the surname of Bannisty on the 1911 census for Winnepeg and as Boraniskin on the 1916 census.
Philip's family is listed as Baransky on the 1916 census. I believe he is the Mephilip Baranesky on the 1906 census for Winnepeg.

Max stated that he became a naturalize citizen in 1907. I cannot find any info on these families other than the census records. I sent a messaage to the Jewish Heritage office in Winnepeg but did not receive a response.

I know that Max and his family went to Chicago, Illinois sometime after 1920. He died there in 1929.

I hope that someone can help me locate data on these families. Thanks, Bettye
