Seeking information on the ancestrors and descendants of John and Anne (HASTINGS) HARPER who settled in the Jacksonville area.
John HARPER was born circa 1789 in Donegal, Ireland. He married Anne HASTINGS circa 1815 in Ireland. In June of 1825, John, Anne and their four children came to Canada, staying in Kingsclear, York County for a few years, then moving on to Jacksonville, Carleton County. John died 11 Apr 1841 in Jacksontown. He is buried in the Jacksonville Anglican Cemetery.
Anne HASTINGS was born circa May 1890 in Ireland. She died 5 Jun 1875, at the home of her son-in-law, in Carleton County. She is buried in Jacksonville Anglican Cemetery.
Children of John and Anne were as follows:
i. James born 10 Oct 1816 in Donegal, Ireland. He married Mary Ann NEVERS 21 May 1846 in Wakefield,Carleton County, New Brunswick.
ii. Margaret born circa 1819 in Ireland. She married William Ambrose HANNAH 16 May 1846 in Wakefield, Carleton County, New Brunswick.
iii. Susan H born 10 May 1820 in Ireland. She married Adam Sharp KEARNEY 16 Jul 1846 in Wakefield, Carleton County, New Brunswick.
iv. Robert born circa 1821 in Ireland. He married Mary Serena KIMBALL 18 Jul 1850 in Carleton County.
v. John born 18 Sep 1827 in Kingsclear, York County, New Brunswick. He married Martha Jane HARRISON 26 Dec 1854 in Wakefield, Carleton County, New Brunswick.
vii. Anne Jane born circa 1829 in New Brunswick. She married John FLEMING 19 Jul 1953 in Wakefield, Carleton County, New Brunswick.
viii. Elizabeth Isabelle born circa 1829 in New Brunswick. She married Charles Scott EMERY 31 Oct 1854 in Wakefield, Carleton County, New Brunswick.
ix. William George born 13 Mar 1834 in Kingsclear, York County, New Brunswick. He married Adelaide E HANNAH 27 May 1858 in Wakefield, Carleton County, New Brunswick.
x. Aaron born 1 Sep 1832 in New Brunswick. Never Married.
With the exception of Robert, who went to Wisconsin for a short time, and Anne who raised her family in Fredericton, the children of John and Anne HARPER raised their families in the Jacksonville and Woodstock areas.
I am very willing to share what information I have on all of the above named families.
