Whyte, Frank Regneal
WHYTE, Frank Regneal Frank passed gently into the light, December 15th, at
home, in the loving embrace of his family. Now that he's got to where he was
going, on the far side of the sky, the first thing that he'll do is spread
his wings and fly. Frank is survived by wife Laurie, daughters: Brianna,
Marijean, Tammie and Iris, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, and family and
friends too numerous to list. Flowers gratefully declined as your friendship
and love throughout his life meant more to him. Donations in lieu of flowers
to Equine Rescue and Recovery Centre, 5500 West Island Highway, Qualicum

JOHN REGINALD WHYTE (WHITE) b. Newcastle, Newcastle Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 24DEC1907 (ca. 1908), m. Baptist Parsonage, Newcastle, Newcastle Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 22MAY 1922 MARY ESTHER ULLOCK (b. Chatham, Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB ca. 1909), d/o Frank and Molly (Springer) Ullock.
John was the son of William James and Susan McDonald (Susanne, Susie) (Beckwith) Whyte.
William James Whyte was b. Newcastle, Newcastle Parish, Northumberland Co., NB ca. 1880-2. He was the s/o John and Mary (Richardson) White. He is given as b. 23SEP1879 in the 1901 census of Newcastle Parish, and his mother, Mrs. John White, as b. 15MAR1855; however the birth-dates in that census are unreliable. His father had died by then. By 1911 "N. L." White (b. DEC1881) is married to Susan (b. OCT1886), with children: Annie (NOV1904), William A. (JAN1909), John R. (DEC1908) and Emery P. (JAN1910.)
According to the 1891 census of Newcastle Parish, John F. White (b. ca. 1845) was born in England. Mary (b. ca. 1845) was born in New Brunswick as were her parents. He was Anglican and she was Roman Catholic suggesting a possible Acadian connection. Children were Sarah J. (18), William J. (11), Alice E. (9) and John F. (8.)
In 1881 John F. White was age 38 and Mary was age 36. Children were Sarah J. (8), Wm James (1) and Alice E. (0), b. MAR1881.
Mary may not have been his first wife. Catherine Martha White b. ca. 1849, d/o James and Mary Taylor, d. Rosebank, Northumberland Co., NB MAY1876. She was the widow of John F. White. This would explain the 7-year gap in ages between Sarah J. White and William James White. When Sarah married in 1895 Henry Gordon, she gave her mother as Martha. John F. White and Martha C. Taylor were married St. Andrew's Church, Newcastle 27MAY1872. Such interchanges of names is all too usual.
A Jane White b. Maryport, England ca. 1807, d. Bathurst, Gloucester Co., NB MAR1883. She was the widow of John White. It is unlikely they were John's parents, but the possibility is worth keeping in mind. Jane came to New Brunswick in 1840.
Mary Richardson was very likely the same b. ca. 1856 in the 1871 census of Nelson Parish, Northumberland Co., NB, d/o James (b. England ca. 1823) and Alice (b. ca. 1827) Richardson. The mother, Alice, was Irish and Roman Catholic and James Richardson was also Roman Catholic; which rather shoots down my Acadian ancestry theory. James may be the James Richardson of South Nelson who died AUG1874.
Susan Beckwith was b. Newcastle, Newcastle Parish, Northumberland Co., NB ca. 1883. the d/o Charles and Annie Beckwith. By 1901, her mother, Annie (b. 1MAR1868) had remarried to John Ruth (b. 1860.) Susan was given as b. 26OCT1883 and her siblings were William (14OCT1886), Georgie (Naomi Georgiana b. 12JUL1888 (11JUL1889 in 1901), daughter) and May (Ida May b. 12JUL1892 (12JUL1891 in 1901)) Beckwith. Half siblings were Eva (14JUN1895) and Hubert (14NOV1897) Ruth. Susan McDonald Beckwith was b. Millstream, Northumberland Co., NB 26OCT1884 the d/o Charles Emery and Ann Isabel (Black) Beckwith. Her father was from Scotland and her mother from Kouchibouquac, NB. Charles Beckwith, m. Kouchibouquac, Kent Co., NB 9JUL1883 Annie Black, d/o Richard Black. They were married by the Rev. William Aitken, father of Max Aitken, 1st Lord Beaverbrook. Charles was likely the same who d. SEP1894 and whose funeral was conducted, probably in Newcastle, by the Salvation Army, of which he was likely a member.
