Two questions:
1. Is this census available on-line; and if so where?
2. If not available on-line, does anyone have a copy who would be willing to do a look-up of any DALZELL /DELZELL families.

Thanks so much.

D.
Phoebe Jones, b. 1861 in Belle Isle, d. 16 Feb 1936 in Moncton; married (1) Charles B. Humphrey and (2) Alfred David Steeves

I am trying to track down the parents of Phoebe Jones. According to her obituary, she was daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Asa Jones, and had a sister Ella Mills and a brother Norman Jones. Does anyone have the 1861 and 1871 census records for Kings county, to send me the text of the family groupings? There is an Asa Jones, age 34, in the 1851 Kings county census in Springfield parish, with 2nd wife [this is a guess from the ages of the children], Catherine, age 22, and 3 children: John, age 11; Harriet, age 10; and Amos, age 8. I think this is the same Asa Jones, with wife Catherine, as appears in the 1881 census online, and they have a daughter Ella, which would tie him to the Phoebe Jones I am interested in.

By 1891, Catherine Jones, wife of Asa H. Jones, is a widow. There is a reported death of Asa H. Jones in "The Times" in November 1889, saying he was 74 years old, survived by his wife and 8 children. I suspect this may be the same guy, but would like to tie it all together a little better. Knowing Asa Jones' parents would also be very helpful.

Here is an excerpt from the obituary of Phoebe (Jones) Humphreys, Steeves:

Obituary, Daily Times, Tuesday, 18 February 1936, p. 9

Mrs. David Steeves

Many friends will learn with deep regret of the passing of Mrs. David Steeves at her residence 349 St. George Street, Sunday evening [16 Feb 1936]. Mrs. Steeves was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Jones, and was born in Belle Isle, Kings County, but had lived practically all her life in Moncton. [...]

She was twice married, her first husband being Charles B. Humphrey, a conductor on the old Intercolonial Railway.

Mrs. Steeves is survived by her husband, David Steeves, well known merchant, also one son Walter Humphrey, and one daughter, Mrs. W. J. Hopper, Dufferin Street, 3 grandchildren, William Humphrey, Walter and Marguerita Hopper, this city [Moncton]; one sister, Mrs. Ella Mills, Moncton, and one brother, Norman Jones, Gladeside, Kent Co.

Funeral: Wed afternoon at 3 o'clock at the residence; burial at Elmwood

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

DNA match

Hello:
I note that DNA participant #'s 36323 and # 29230 first lines are the same.
# 29230 represents my line .
It would be nice and also helpful if you had some dates to which to compare. I know we are said to have ancestors in the Carolinas. I am trying to find the parentage of Charles Cameron b 1783 . His gravestone says Inverness-shire, but a grandson in an old letter to a relative says b Quebec. Since that date represents the end of the Revolution, I am
considering that. To shorten the story, Charles served in the 26th of Foot, Cameronian Regiment as a young Drummer from 1790 to 1800. He the went to York (now Toronto) and eventually got land in what is now (Mississauga) Ontario, Canada.
He m and had 10 children on that farm. Some stayed around that area, while others went West and some eventually to California etc.
If you would be so kind as to share some dates , it would be nice if we could come up with some names from the past.
I would hope that the DNA project will prove fruitful in this regard, else it seems meaningless as far as genealogy is concerned. Do you know anything about the John and the Mill Allen in your DNA?
This line is said to be of Fassiefern which produced the Chiefs since the time of Culloden in Scotland.
Thanks for bearing with me. I appreciate any comments and help.
Delphine Cameron Large

Townsend Family of Kings County

I am researching my Townsend ancestors. Looking for info on John Townsend and his wife Martha (Yeamans). I believe they had 13 children. Both are apparently buried at St. Paul's Anglican Churchyard, Lakeside, Hampton Parish, Kings County. I am descended from their oldest child Jeremiah Townsend, born in 1781, and baptized in 1795 in Gagetown, New Brunswick. Jeremiah married Mary Turner who was baptized as an adult in 1817 in Kingston Parish.

Desperately trying to locate the Wilson Family. the Canadian 1911 Census has Thomas R. Wilson, his wife, Edith M. Wilson, his daughters, Agnes and Evangeline and son Charles T, his father Thomas and brother James H. all documented as living in Norton Parish, Kings County. The birth date and age for Thomas senior is very accurate to be Anne Wilson's brother, from the Bathurst area. Anne was married to my gg grandfather, Cornelius Wiseman, who died very young of foul play in Bathurst. Would love to communicate with Anne's family to see what they know of the story of Anne and Cornelius. His name I believe was James Cornelius.

Does anyone know if there has been an index compiled of this census year? I have checked the actual film at our library for the family of Henry J Fowler in Hampton, but there are quite a few pages of it that are completely illegible. I have yet to make it to the Provincial Archives, but does anyone know if their copy would be in better shape, or would it be the exact same? This is the last year I have to find them in, and was really hoping to finish this off.

Thanks.

She was married to Henry Joshua Fowler of Hampton, and they raised their children, Lillian Blanche, Harry Ernest, Ella May, Walter, Roy Wilbur, Florence Harrison, and two children that died in infancy in Hampton/Hampton area. According to her tombstone which, I located in the Hampton Rural Cemetery, she died in 1933, but there is not a date on it. I am trying to track down her actual date, to try and find an obituary for her. I have checked the Provincial archives, but there is not a listing for her death.

If these names look familiar to anyone, or if you know who I would contact in regards to this cemetery, please help. I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

Looking for Evans Descendants

I am trying to track down the the descendants of Lt.-Col. Harry Ilsley Evans and Dorothy Keith (Lowe) Evans.

Harry Ilsley Evans was born in Hampton, Kings County, New Brunswick on 24 Jul 1895 to Edwin George Evans and Lillian Blanche Fowler. He died at the Victoria Public Hospital 12 Apr 1965 and was buried in the family plot in the Hampton Rural Cemetery, Hampton, Kings County, New Brunswick. According to his death notice, he was well known in Fredericton and Oromocto as the first chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the town of Oromocto, a post he retired from in 1961. For a number of years he served as the administrator at the Department of Verteran's Affairs in Saint John. When he died in 1965, he was survived by his Dorothy, who was living in Oromocto, and four daughters; Mrs. Harry Burroughs of Santurce, Puerto Rico, Mrs. W.G. Colbourne of Windsor, Ontario, Mrs. John C. Smith of Fredericton, and Mrs. George E. Crowe of Oswego, New York. He was also survived by eight grandchildren. I have no idea what the names of his daughters were or which of them had children and their names.

According to his wife Dorothy's headstone, found in Hampton Rural Cemetery, she died in 1993, but unfortunately, that is all I know about her death. I have no actual date for her. Dorothy was born circa 1898 in New Brunswick, and they were married 4 Nov 1923 in Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick.

If any of this looks familiar to anyone out there, I would love some help please. I have hit a wall with this branch of my family tree, and would love to be able to find some information on any of their descendants.

Thanks in advance.

arewerelated2007@yahoo.com

I am seeking any information on the Eberle/Eberly/Everly family. I have information from the 1881 census that shows William, May, Nelson, Samuel, Elizabeth, Maud, and Carrie Everly. It appears to be one family. I would like to approximately know when the family arrived, if there were other families, who the parents were, or any other information that is available.

Hi, Just wondering if anyone could help me find a little more info on my gg-grandparents. My great-grandmother was Sara (Sadie) Nora Anderson b.1903 in Sussex, Kings Co. She married Everett Ross Adams and they had 14 kids. Her father was William James Anderson and her mother Mary Maud Gray. I found a birth registration on the New Brunswick site for this info. It's pretty much all that I've got. I also found a few potential siblings.
Thanks, Rachel

Hi. I am trying to track down descendants of Murray E. Wood (1894-1958) and Mary Kathleen Durnnian (1893-?). They're buried Riverbank. I think they had 1 son Kenneth L.(name on stone in Riverbank). Kenneth Leslie Wood married Audrey Ganderton 1940 (assuming same person).
Wondering if anyone is researching the Wood family and/or has information on Kenneth or other children of Murray and Mary.
Any suggestion/information would be appreciated.
Thanks,terry

I have been told by some that the Eastern end of the parish was never surveyed or the census results were lost.

I am trying to locate the entry for William and Mary Teakles, then living in and around Portage Vale. The family do appear in the 1851 and 1871 Census.

Kierstead Mountain, Kings Co.

If Kierstead Mountain is spelled with "IE", is this the correct spelling for all the KIERSTEAD/KEIRSTEAD family members? I find birth records spelled with "EI", then death records for the same person, as well as birth records for some of their children spelled "IE". Any suggestions as to which spelling is correct and which one to use in my program? Right now I am going by birth information, when I have it, but it is complicated when family members are spelled differently.

DAYE, Hector - 1908 - 1996

I'm trying to find out if Hector Daye (1908 - 1996) is related to my Daye line. He is buried near Sussex, NB, and was a member of the Sussex Royal Canadian Legion. My great, great grandfather, Hector McLeod (1808 - 1873) lived and farmed in the Sussex area as did many of his children. He had a daughter, Lydia Ann, who married William Benjamin Daye of Saint John. My line of Dayes always spelled their name with the "e" on the end as opposed to most other NB Days without the "e". The same spelling of the surname, together with the name "Hector" and the commonality of Sussex, NB, makes me wonder if there's a connection. Any assistance is appreciated.

Nathaniel Adams (b. ca. 1786) and Hannah Roberts (b. ca. 1790)

Nathaniel Adams (b. ca. 1786) m. 21SEP1809 Hannah Roberts (b. ca.1790.) They were apparently living in Hampstead Parish, Queens Co., NB at the time, and were married by the Rev. Richard Clarke of Gagetown. When their daughter, Elizabeth, was baptized 13JAN1811 by the Rev. Richard Clarke of Gagetown, they were still in Hampstead Parish. In 1851, they were in Greenwich Parish, Kings Co., NB. Elizabeth may be the same Elizabeth Adams for whom a marriage bond was issued in 1832 when she married Samuel Jones. In Greenwich Parish, in 1851, was a Samuel Jones (b. ca. 1818) with a wife, Elizabeth (b. ca. 1816.) In Studholm Parish, Kings Co., NB in 1881 Samuel is given as b. ca. 1818, and Elizabeth as b. ca. 1818 as well.
Obviously there are some problems assuming that the Elizabeth, d/o Nathaniel and Hannah (Roberts) Adams and the Elizabeth Adams who m. Samuel Jones are the same person; particularly her varying birth-date. To add to this, both Elizabeth and Samuel (judging by census returns) seem a bit young to be married in 1832. There was another Samuel Jones in Kings Co. (b. ca. 1799) for whom a marriage bond was issued in 1832 when he m. Sarah Lydia Perkins. It may be possible that the dates of the two bond were confused.
What I am trying to find is whom Samuel Jones, the younger, married; who their children were, and what became of them. There were no children with them in 1881, and I suspect the three (Jerusha, Letitia and Samuel) who were with them in 1851 may have died relatively young.

Thomas

Tapley Genealogy

Thanks for the information. It came thru just fine - all 31 pages!
The Tapley family info. was incorrect regarding Henry Tapley, son of Osmond Tapley #1. He was my great-grandfather and didn't die at age 23. The Cleadie Barnett record is what we all are probably going by, so I discounted the O.T. family for a long period, until I finally broke down and bought some records from the state of Maine. They clearly state Osmond was his father. I am working quite hard on this line and have 5 of Osmond's children pretty well traced, although Charles is a guess, as I am confused by the two middle initials of S. and H. A Morman record has S, but I found a census of the same family and it is clearly an H. Both were born in the month of March in the right year, and had wives named Charlotte, so I'm thinking it's the same person. Besides the dubious Charles, I have George, Jennie, Henry and Nancy. I have not done Osmond yet, as I figure he would be really easy and I could do it anytime. There are so many James Tapleys, that I thought I'd hold off until I could better identify which of the many he is. Haven't gotten around to it yet.
However, the Drake information was invaluable, as I am a descendant of that family also!
I also have Hood ancestors, though that was more sketchy.
You have clearly done massive work trying to piece these N.B. Tapleys together! I was very interested to see the line that went and established the Ontario contingent! Do you have any PANB records you could mail me; I would reciprocate with the ones I have ordered. I figure if we get together on this we could do it faster and much more cheaply, especially if we are not ordering the same records!
