As for Phoebe's baptism, there is a microfilm reference at:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nbken/BaptNorth.html
That may be worth following up. This actually comes from:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nbken/
Use the second search engine as the first does not work.
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nbken/DeathNorth.html
for example has Edward's wife. Elizabeth. This is on the same microfilm so there is evidence for Phoebe's parentage.

Thomas.

As to George McRae being connected to the Northumberland Co., McRae's I would doubt it. The sense I get is that the NB families were descended from several British soldiers of the American Revolution; possibly related probably not. The PEI families I would anticipate were later arrivals after 1783, possibly after 1800. In 1881 there were 81 McRae's, not accounting for variations in spelling. This suggests not only a large family, but several families. They may have a common origin but I simply cannot get any relevant information that permits even a reasonable hypothesis.

A bit I missed:

William Patricious Bryant, m. Maria Coughlan (b. 23AUG1799; m. 2nd 25APR1833 John Bowser), d/o Thomas Coughlan.

I would suggest a query on George at:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/canada/princeedwardisland/
and at:
http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.canada.princee...

Thomas.
There's a lot there to think about. I agree that Mary was likely a Bryant and probably born PEI. That Mary and Elizabeth were related seems likely. There is an online tree that says Elizabeth was born in PEI but I've not found a source.

The witnesses on William and Mary's marriage are hard to read, the first almost impossible (James ?, Sr.), the second looks like Richard Small, a name I've not come across in North'd County but note that there are Smalls in Charlotte County.

(I did not see the Bryant/McRae connection coming...do you know if that McRae (George) was connected to the North'd County McRaes?)
I kind of saw the PEI thing coming and from what I have seen her maiden name was Bryant and she was b. PEI. I also suspect she was related to the Weldford Parish, Kent Co., NB Bryant's, also from PEI. Some of their relatives married some of my Murray cousins in Bedeque but I could find nothing relevant. You probably have gone through most of this, and I could not find anything definite but I'll paste in the notes of my search in case anything is useful.

Thomas.

So far, it seems as if Mary Bryant b. PEI ca. 1819-21, m. Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 26NOV1842 William Lobban (b. ca. 1812-3, d. Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 14APR1882 age 69 years), possibly a s/o Thomas and Jane Loban, was a Bryant. Also that there were other members of her family in Chatham Parish roughly between 1821 and 1851. Mary is said to have arrived in NB in 1835.
A newspaper announcement has them married in Chatham Parish 26NOV1842. She is given as Mary 'Brien'. The 24NOV1842 date might be a reference to a marriage bond or license.
Her connection to the others is difficult to determine. These may include:

William Bryant b. ca. 1801, d. Andover, Victoria Co., NB MAY1853, m. Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 4JUN1823 Phoebe Daniels (b. ca. JAN1797 ( ca. 1800), d. Tobique, Andover Parish, Victoria Co., NB 19JUN1867 age 69 years and 5 months; m. 1st Daniel Hart (Hartt)).
The estate of Daniel Hartt of Chatham Parish was executed by Phoebe Hartt and John Lobban in 1823. John Lobban's wife, Elizabeth, d. Chatham Parish MAY1831 age 64 years. John Lobban b. ca. 1769, d. 9OCT1832, is said to have arrived in NB about 1822 from PEI. William is also said to have had brothers, John and Alexander, so there may have been two John Lobban's.
It seems possible that at least some of the Bryant's were connected to PEI as well. In 1881, Mary (60) was b. PEI. William 'Loban' (68) and the children were b. NB. In 1891, their daughters, Marjory (30), Mary (26) and Annie (19) were b. Nb as was their father and their mother was b. PEI.

James Bryant, d. Portland, Maine 6OCT1859, m. Fredericton, York Co., NB FEB1827 Sarah Avery (b. ca. 1805, d. 3 Mecklenburg St., Saint John 22JAN1869 age 64 years).

Edward Lobban b. ca. 1803-4, d. at the home of his son-in-law, J. M. Wright, Tobique, Andover Parish, Victoria Co., NB 14APR1877 age 74 years, m. Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB JUN1835 Elizabeth Bryant (b. ca. 1815, d. Chatham Parish 21FEB1840 age 25 years). Their 7 month old daughter. Lydia Elizabeth Loban, Bpt. 5JUL1840, died 21AUG1840. It appears that Elizabeth died of childbirth.
Edward may be the Edwd Lobban b. ca. 1804 in Chatham in 1851. He is given as arrived in 1823.
I wonder of Phoebe Lobban b. ca. 1832 was not Edward's daughter? this seems probable as, in 1871, in Andover Parish, James Michael Wright (ca. 1830) and 'Phebeo' E. (ca. 1839; (Phoebe Elizabeth) had Edward E. (16), 'Anny' E. (14), William J. (12), Wayman (8; Weyman Clifford Wright b. 7FEB1864), and 'Frences' J. (daughter, 3). Of these, Edward E. Wright (27JUL1854 (1855?)- 22JUN19380 was the s/o James and Phoebe ('Loban) Wright. John William Wright (6JAN1859-21AUG1946) had the same parents. Although, in later life, she was Phoebe Elizabeth Lobban she was baptized as Edward's daughter 4MAR1838 as Phoebe Bryant Lobban. She was b. 24DEC1837. Edward was baptized as an adult 20AUG1835 as M. Edward Lobban.
Edward did have a son, William John Dean Lobban b. 11MAR1836. A daughter m. _____ Stirling. Apparently she and her sister, Phoebe (Lobban) Wright, were living in New York by 1894. Another daughter may have been Mrs. Parker.
There was a Bryant Wright (11AUG1921-14AUG19210, s/o Herman Wright in Victoria Co.
Since Phoebe Lobban appears to be the daughter of Edward Lobban, then probably Edward's 2nd (?) wife,, Elizabeth Bryant, appears to be a sister of William Bryant. Phoebe, then, would be (in some fashion) William Bryant's niece.

Jane Miller b. ca. 1831, a niece of William and Mary (Bryant) Lobban in 1851.

That Mary Bryant was b. in PEI ca. 1819-21 suggests that she may have been a daughter of William and Maria (Cochrane) Briant of Richmond, PEI. William and Maria had a daughter, Mary Ann Briant b. Lot 25 2SEP1821, baptized Richmond Parish Church of England Church 16JUL1823. The couple are also given as William and Maria (Coughlen) Bryant and another daughter was:

Johanna Bryant b. Lot 16 22SEP1832, baptized 25APR1833.

At:
http://genforum.genealogy.com/bryant/messages/3447.html
Mary Ann, d/o William Patricious Bryant and Maria Coughlan is given as m. George McRae. It also suggested that they began in NB, and after William's death, Maria remarried and moved back to NB; apparently to Kent Co., NB. See also:
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Children of William and Mary (Bryant) Lobban were:
1. MARTHA LOBBAN b. ca. 1843.
2. THOMAS A. LOBBAN b. ca. 1844.
3. MARJORY (MARGERY) A. LOBBAN b. ca. 1846-8 (ca. 1861?).
4. CATHARINE (KATE) LOBBAN b. ca. 1848-53, m. _____ SNOW.
5. ELIZA B. LOBBAN b. ca. 1852-6 (PEI ca. 1865?), m. Amherst, Cumberland Co., NS 15MAR1893 ROBERT LARKIN (b. PEI ca. 1855; m. 1st _____), s/o Alex and Flora Larkin.
When they married, Robert was living in North Dakota. Eliza B. Loban is given as b. Charlottetown, but I rather suspect that this may be an error for Chatham. She was also given as age 28 years, but again, this is not clear and I suspect the age is not accurate especially as, 2 years before, she was age 35. Robert was likely b. Charlottetown but he is just given as b. PEI.
In 1891, Eliza B. and Nellie Loban lived with their widowed sister, Kate Snow, in Amherst. Their mother was b. PEI.
6. JOHN LOBBAN b. ca. 1854.
7. WILLIAM LOBBAN b. ca. 1856.
8. HELEN (ELLEN, NELLIE) LOBBAN b. Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB ca. 13MAR1858 (1858-9), d. 115 Lawrence St., Halifax, Halifax Co., NS 6DEC1936, m. Northumberland Co., NB 31DEC1896 FREDERICK CHARLES WILTSHIRE (b. Bedford, England ca. 1866), s/o George and Ann (Hulatt) Wiltshire.
In her death registration Frederick stated that she was the daughter of William 'Laban' b. NB and of Mary O'Brien b. PEI. I find it remarkable that he knew Mary was b. PEI and not surprising that he might remember Mary;'s maiden name incorrectly.
9. MARY LOBBAN b. 1861 (ca. 1862, ca. 1855?), d. Chatham, Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 30SEP1933 age 72 years).
Mary's death registration not only gives her mother as Mary 'Bryan' but that her mother was b. Prince Edward Island. The information was given by her sister, Mrs. Fred Wiltshire of Chatham.
J. ANNIE G. LOBBAN b. ca. 1872-3, m. Amherst, Cumberland Co., NS 31AUG1892 JAMES MITCHELL FALCONER (FALKNER) (b. Taunton, MA ca. 1870), s/o James and Nettie Falconer.
Thank you Thomas. Muddying the water a bit more...there is a death record for a Margaret Laban--informant sister Mary, parents William Loban,(Chatham) and Mary Cocherane (PEI). Based on the date of death, and an unsourced death notice, I suspect that this is likely Marjorie Loban d/o William and Mary.

According to the 1861 census Mary 'Brien' was born in PEI. I have not found a baptism for their oldest child(Martha, b1843)or another marriage for Mary.

The marriage record of her daughter, Helen (Nellie) 'Loban' also gives her as Mary Bryant. One might think that the majority of records give her maiden name as Bryant but there are problems. For example, in 1851, there is no indication of a Bryant family in Chatham Parish nor in Northumberland Co. Nor do the 1865 and 1867 directories indicate such a family.

On 4JUN1823 William Bryant of Chatham m. Chatham Phoebe, the widow of Dan' Hart; so there were other Bryant's in the area. William Bryant d. Andover, Victoria Co., NB MAY1853. In 1851, in Andover Parish, he was age 50 and 'Phebe' was age 51. With them was 'Phebe Loban' (12), a 'lodger', but in the circumstances likely a granddaughter. Phoebe, Sr. d. Tobique, Andover Parish 19JUN1867 at the home of James Knight. She was age 69 years and 5 months.

James Bryant of the Miramichi m. Fredericton FEB1827 Sarah Avery. James was in Chatham in 1845 when his son, James William Bryant, d. MAY1845 age 2 years and 11 months. James was likely the James Bryant, "an old inhabitant of Miramichi", who d. Portland, Maine 6OCT1859. Sarah M. Bryant d. 3 Mecklenburg St., Saint John 22JAN1869 age 64 years. It would appear that James was a brother of William rather than a son.

Not much but it appears, at a guess, that brothers, William and James Bryant, lived in Chatham Parish in the early 1800's but moved to Victoria Co. and Maine by 1851. Mary (b. ca. 1819) would likely be the daughter of one; probably William by a 1st marriage. In 1851, Mary is, however, given as arrived in NB 1835 in the 1851 census. William Bryant, in 1851, is given as arrived 1821. This does not exclude the hypothesis, but certainly makes it difficult. Certainly William was associated with the Lobban's.

Elizabeth Bryant m. Chatham JUN1835 Edward Lobban. Edward may be the Edwd Lobban b. ca. 1804 in Chatham in 1851. He is given as arrived in 1823 where William was b. in NB. Gain an apparent contradiction.

I do not have time for more now.

Thomas.

She signed with a mark and the name was spelled Brien. According to death records for their children her maiden name could have been Bryant or O'Brien.

There is also a lot of fuss about whether surnames should be Mc or Mac, but there is actually no difference; or at least there wasn't at one time.
David McLean was not the son of Alex McLean and Sarah (Kennedy) Daley. David was the son of Alexander's 2nd wife, Margaret Bonnell.

I am interested in any information, especially photos, of Sarah and Alexander, as Alexander was my great-grandfather and I've no photos of him and would like to learn more about his life in New Brunswick.

Marie McLin aged 19 yrs old baptized on May 1st, 1824 in Escuminac - she is the one married the same year to Thomas Windle. In the marriage certificat the name of Mary's mother seems to be given as Mac Ray but on the baptism paper the name is Paguay McCoy(Peggy is usualy a short name for Margaret).
Another son James baptized on August 15, 1819 son of Donald McLean and Margaret McCoy. In both baptism the name McCoy is really readable without any doubt.
Hope this will be of some help to you.

Angus McLean and Annabella McDonald

In 1851, the only Annabela McDonald in Glenelg Parish b. near to 1838 was Annabela McDonald (15), d/o James (59) and Catharine (47) McDonald.

By 1871, 'Angis McLain' (37) and Annabella (30) have moved to Chatham Paris where they lived next to his parents, 'Donneld McLain' (67) and 'Elisabeth' (64). Donald and Elizabeth's other children in 1871 are John (27), Hugh (25), Grace (21) and Mary (11). Angus and Hugh are both given as 'pillot' (i.e., pilots for ship on the Miramichi). Angus and Annabella had 'Barbari' (6), Catharine (4), 'Elisabeth' (3) and Mary (SEPT1870).

In 1871 Angus (37), John (27), Hugh (25) and Grace (21) were with their parents in Glenelg Parish as Angus (19), John (13), Hugh (10) and Grace (2).

In 1851, next door to Donald (47) and Elizabeth (43) 'McLane' were Hugh (44) and Grace (37) McLane and family. I assume that Donald and Hugh were brothers. When Hugh's daughter, Barbara, married in 1867 her father was given as living in Escuminac. This suggests a 155 acre grant at McLean's Cove to Donald McLean. Others in the grant seem to have been Donald McKay, Paul Mazeroll, Lemuel Martin, Peter Mazerol, Jos. Doucett, Peter Herbert, etc.; all fronting Baie-Ste.-Anne. At the further end of this grant, in Lot 20, near Eel River, was Alex. McDonald 118? acres). This would refer to a grant that included Donald McLean (155 acres) made in what was then Glenelg Parish 24APR1818, and included:

DOUCET, Joseph Jr. 74 acres
DOUCET, Joseph Sr. 95 acres
MCDONALD, Alexander 118 acres
MAZEROLL, Paul Jr. 130 acres
MAZEROLL, Peter 230 acres
MARTIN, Lemuel 223 acres
MCDONALD, Alexander 118 acres

and others. In addition to the 155 acres in Lot 3, Donald McLean received Lot 1 of 110 acres.

I would guess that Donald McLean (ca. 1804), Hugh McLean (ca. 1807) and Hugh's brother, James (ca. 1817, living with Hugh in 1851) were sons of Donald McLean of the 1818 grant. Hugh, James and Donald, and possibly a fourth brother, Alexander McLean (ca. 1811-3) are listed in the 1861 census of what is now Hardwicke Parish at:
http://www.robocker.com/NorthumberlandNB/hardwicke1861census...

Even more of a guess would be that James McDonald (ca. 1792), Annabella's father, may have been a s/o Alexander McDonald of the same grant. At this point the available resources seem to make conjecture futile. For example, an Alexander McDonald b. Ross-shire, Scotland ca. 1775, arrived in NB in 1803, d. Little Brook, Black River, Northumberland Co., NB 31OCT1843. Alexander McDonald b. Arisaig, Inverness-shire, Scotland ca. 1762, arrived in 1790, d. Lower Bay du Vin 29NOV1848. By 1851 there were 13 Alexander's in Glenelg Parish. Trying to sort out McDonald's would be a herculean task requiring in-depth searches far beyond the present limitations of the internet. I think, however, that I can state that Annabella (McDonald) McLean b. Glenelg Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 26AUG1838, d. Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 28DEC1915, m. 20JAN1864 Angus McLean (b. 7JUL1833), was very likely the daughter of James and Catherine McDonald.

Apparently James b. ca. 1792 was James McDonald b. 11MAR1792, s/o Alexander and Grace (McLean) McDonald and he m. Catherine Taylor. If, as you say, Angus McLean and Annabella McDonald were 3rd cousins, then James McDonald and Donald McLean may have been 2nd cousins. If Donald McLean (ca. 1804) was the s/o Donald McLean of the 1818 grant, then Donald, Sr. and Grace McLean were possibly 1st cousins.

There is much that is confusing. For example Alexander McDonald, husband of Grace McLean, at:
http://nbgs.automatedgenealogy.com/firstfamilies/FAMILY-McA-...
is given as d. 11DEC1834 and to have lived at Bartibog. According to an entry in, "The Gleaner and Northumberland Schediasma", 30DEC1834, that Alexander was:

"d. Bartibog,Thursday 11th inst., Lt. Col. Alexander McDONALD age 72, native of Argylshire, Scotland. Came to Miramichi in 1784. Left family."

Yet it seems unnecessary to go to Bartibog to find a father, Alexander, for James. James McDonald was one of the administrators of the estate of Robert Taylor of Glenelg Parish in 1823. Margaret Taylor and Wm. Taylor were others. Were Robert and Margaret Taylor his wife's parents? The Alexander McDonald who d. Little Brook, Black River, Northumberland Co., NB 31OCT1843 also appears to have had a wife, Grace. It seems there is a great deal of potential for confusion.

At:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rbarry4145...
it is stated that Robert Taylor's wife was Margaret 'McLain', d/o Daniel M. McLain. This would suggest, as above, that Catherine McLean (ca. 1780?) and Donald McLean (ca. 1804) were second cousins. Therefore that Daniel M. McLean and Grace (McLean) McDonald were 1st cousins. Does this mean that Donald McLean in the 1818 grant was the same person as Daniel M. McLean? I see no Daniel McLean petitioning for land in Northumberland Co. early on. For Donald, however; there is:

1802
MCLEAN, DONALD
TAYLOR, JOHN
TAYLOR, ROBERT

1806
MCLEAN, CATHERINE
MCLEAN, DONALD
MCLEAN, JANE
MCLEAN, JOHN

This one seems to have resulted in the 1818 grant.

1814
MCLEAN, DONALD
MCDONALD, ALEXANDER
MCKINNON, GREGORY
TAYLOR, ALEXANDER
TAYLOR, PATRICK
TAYLOR, ROBERT
TAYLOR, WILLIAM

and a number of others. The index to grants shows similar results. There is no Daniel McLean.

1NOV1813 Newcastle Parish:
McLEAN, Donald 49 acres (shared with another, probably Alexander McDonald)
HEBERE, John 49 acres
MCDONALD, Alexander 98 acres
MUZEROLL, Joseph 49 acres
MUZEROLL, Maturin 49 acres
MUZEROLL, Paul 49 acres
TAYLOR, Robert 49 acres
TIBODO, Joseph 49 acres

In the 1818 grant also appear:
MAZEROLL, David 140 acres
MAZEROLL, Paul Jr. 130 acres
MAZEROLL, Peter 230 acres
MCDONALD, Alexander 118 acres

It is important to know that Glenelg Parish was created in 1814, probably from Newcastle Parish, therefore the 1813 Newcastle Parish grant was likely in what is now Hardwicke or in Glenelg Parish. Again one does not have to go to Bartibog to find an Alexander McDonald nor is it Daniel M. McLean who is associated with Robert Taylor.

So, if James McDonald, father of Annabella McDonald, was the son of an Alexander and Grace McDonald, I would choose that Alexander and Grace who lived in the same neighbourhood, who were associated with James McDonald's apparent father-in-law, Robert Taylor, and with Angus McLean's apparent grandfather, Donald McLean. Since Robert Taylor m. Margaret McLean, apparently Angus' aunt (if Margaret was Donald McLean's (ca. 1804) sister), and Annabella McDonald's grandmother, this might explain the consanguinity between Angus and Annabella. Perhaps more practical is that Margaret (McLean) Taylor and Donald McLean (1818 grant) were siblings. This suggests two lines-of-descent;

Daniel M. McLean
Margaret McLean (ca. 1780) m. Robert Taylor
Catherine Taylor (ca. 1804) m. James McDonald (ca. 1792)
Annabella McDonald (ca. 1836-8)

Daniel M. McLean
Donald McLean
Donald McLean (ca. 1794) m. Elizabeth _____ (ca. 1797)
Angus McLean (ca. 1832-4)

with Angus and Annabella being 3rd cousins. Still, Daniel M. McLean may be more myth.

The conclusions reached elsewhere so far seem so suspicious to me and I am so confused at this point that I think I will leave further speculation to those more deeply immersed in these puzzles.

Thomas.
FYI
I can't be sure Annabell is d/o Alexander McDonald and Grace McAskill but just in case:
Annabell born either Black River or Bay du Vin on Aug. 26, 1838 married Angus McLean s/o Donald and Elizabeth on Jan. 20, 1864 (Drouin collection). They received a dispensation from the bishop of Chatham (3rd degree consanguinity which I believe means they shared great grandparents.)
I am actually researching McLeans. My gg grandmother, Mary Grace Windle was d/o Thomas Windle and Mary McLean of Kent Co. They lived in Escuminac before moving to Richibucto. Mary McLean was d/o Donald McLean and Margaret McRae.
I am interested in Angus McLean because he was RC and a sponsor at the baptism of one of my family and also that is is s/o Donald. Donald is on the same page of the 1851 census as Michael Carroll who married Elizabeth Windle d/o Thomas and Mary McLean Windle.

I am interested in this family in Escuminac:
Donald McLean born 1804 in NB.
Elizabeth born 1808
Their children:
Donald born 1830
Angus born 1832
Barbara born 1837
John born 1838
Hugh born 1841
Margaret born 1844
Isabella (Belvidera?) born 1846
Grace born 1849
Mary born 1860 (grandaughter)
The only one I have been able to trace is Angus who married Annabell McDonald. I'm in the process of filling out the info for that family.
Donald is on the same page in the 1851 census as Michael Carroll who I know married Elizabeth Windle.
Also, on the same page (8) of the census is Hugh McLean born 1807 and wife Grace.
Their children:
John, Margaret, Daniel, Hugh, Jane, James, Mary and Barbara plus Hugh's brother James born 1817 in NB.
Not far away (Pg 6) is John Mclean born 1801 (Pilot) wife Margery and children Donald, Archibald, Margaret, Catherine, Grace, Charles, Alexander, John, Robert and James.
I am trying to find out if any or all were children of Donald McLean and Mary McRae who were the parents of Mary McLean who married Thomas Windle. I suspect that Donald is because his son Angus was a sponsor at the baptism of some Steele relatives.
TIA

We have traced the John Hay family of Bartibog back to John Hay (1713-1786), weaver and Gordon Castle tenementer in Fochabers, Morayshire, Scotland. His son John Hay (1731-1804) came to NB in 1784 with his wife Catherine Batchen and his only known child, Andrew Hay (1763-1821). Andrew & his wife Margaret Laing of Speymouth (1762-1823) had five children: James Hay (1789-1864), Andrew Jr., John, Annie, Jean & Catherine Hay.
The Connells/ O'Connells of Bartibog and Douglasfield were probably not related unless it goes back a ways in Ireland. I think they are likely two different families by the time they came to NB. I have made two fairly extensive trees here on Ancestry for both families. I don't have the up to date info of the last few generations but I have a lot of the older/ early stuff. There you will find a fairly complete record of the original members of the two families and where many of them dispersed to. I could not find out what happened to a few of them so they either died in NB early on or moved away - most likely to Minnesota or Wisconsin. (1850’s-1880’s) or later on family members who left usually went to Boston or Maine.

I also help where I can.
I believe you will find James family and Sybil's family in the 1901 cenus at http://www.automatedgenealogy.com
Probably further back at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/census-1911/ind...
You can also get 1851-1871-1881-1891-1901 census there also.
I could not find a death certificate for James wife. It appears she died between 1908 and 1911
When you need more help just ask , I am sure some one has the info or knows where to look.
Good luck iuck in your hunt.
Jeannette

SARAH (SADIE) KENNEDY (b. Wallace Harbour, NS (Sussex Parish, Kings Co., NB?) 26DEC1860 (DEC1859 in 1911), d. Loggieville, Chatham Parish, Northumberland Co., NB 6MAR1957 age 96 years, 2 months and 8 days), m. 1st WILLIAM DALEY (DEALY) (b. Stonehaven, Restigouche Co., NB ca. 1850); m. 2nd Kent Co., NB 1MAY1905 ALEXANDER (ALEX) McLEAN (b. Hardwick Parish, Northumberland Co., NB MAY1857; m. 1st MARY _____?).
Sarah was the daughter of John Kennedy (b. Scotland) and of Jane Law (b. Ireland).
In Chatham Parish in 1901 Sarah Daley was a widow. Nearby lived Stephen 'Dealey' b. 9JUN1850; possibly a brother-in-law. In 1891, William (41) and Sarah (31) 'Daily' lived next to Stephen Daily (40) and family. On the other side was the family of Alexander (35) and Mary (34) McLean. In 1891 Sarah was b. NB which contradicts her death registration where her son, Melvin, stated she was born in Nova Scotia.
Sarah (22) and William (30) Daley were both b. NB in Chatham Parish in 1881. Next door was Steph Daley (28) and family.
In 1871, 'Stephan' Daily (16) was the son (or grandson?) of John (73) and Mary (44) Daily in Bathurst, Gloucester Co., NB with John b. Ireland and Mary b. NB. William, however, appears to be William Daley, age 19, s/o a widow, Johanna Daley (40, b. Ireland) also in Bathurst in 1871. Johanna (b. ca. 1831) may have been Joanna Daley (b. ca. 1829) wife of Michael Daley (ca. 1825) in Addington Parish, Restigouche Co., NB in 1851. Both were given as b. in NB.
Sarah, in her 2nd marriage, is indicated a having been born in Sussex which I take to mean Sussex Parish, Kings Co., NB. I do not find a Sarah or Sadie Kennedy of the right age with parents, John and Jane, in New Brunswick in 1871. There is, in Wallace, Cumberland Co., NS, a Sarah Kennedy age 12 working for William M, and Elizabeth Carlyle. Interestingly Sarah was b. in New Brunswick. This may be the Wallace Harbour that Melvin referred to but she was actually b. in NB. There were other Kennedy's in Wallace, from Scotland, but establishing a relationship may be tricky.
There was, in Mill Hill, Cumberland Co., NS in 1871, a Samuel Law (72) and wife, 'Rosan' (77) from Ireland with members of their family nearby. They apparently did have a daughter, Jane, but at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nscumber/message/40490
it is suggested that Jane married a Thomas Kirkpatrick and that 'Rosan' was Rosamund Stewart.
Children:
1. ETHEL MAY DALEY b. ca. 1879.
2. ALVARD (ALWARD) DALEY b. 24DEC1880.
3. CLARA DALEY b. Black Brook (Loggieville), Northumberland Co., NB 27APR1883.
4. SYBIL WINNIFRED DALEY b. 16APR1884, m. 22SEP1903 JAMES CRAIG.
5. WILLIAM DALEY b. 10MAY1886.
6. MELVIN DALEY b. 6OCT1891 (OCT1892 in 2011).
7. LAURA DALEY b. 2APR1894.
8. WINFIELD DALEY b. 26JUL1896 (JUN1897).
9. EVA DALEY b. 2MAY1899.
J. DAVID McLEAN b. JAN1901.
