Parents were David McClellan and Marianna Knight. Mr. McClellan may have died as a result of an accident in his shipyard. Mrs. McClellan may have remarried a Mr. B. Harrington. Family tradition has it that Edmond McClellan had a disagreement with his step-father as a young man, and moved to Maine where he changed his identity to Howard McKnight. As Howard McKnight, he began a series of adventures which led him to Louisiana, marriage & a large family, and a rather prosperous life.
