Researching the McKnight family with origins in St. John's, Charlotte, New Brunswick. Howard McKnight was born Edmond McClellan 6 June 1835 in Carleton W.St.John. Parents were David McClellan and Marianna Knight. Mr. McClellan may have died as a result of an accident in his shipyard. Mrs. McClellan may have remarried a Mr. B. Harrington. Family tradition has it that Edmond McClellan had a disagreement with his step-father as a young man, and moved to Maine where he changed his identity to Howard McKnight. As Howard McKnight, he began a series of adventures which led him to Louisiana, marriage & a large family, and a rather prosperous life. Seeking any information to help determine clarity of Edmond McClellan's birth, parents, life in New Brunswick, and/or immigration of the family from Scotland. Much appreciated.
