Hi Susan,
While going through the Saint John 1901 census microfilm a while back I made note of a Joseph Naves b. 5 Nov 1826, England, immigrated 1834, labourer, Church of England; wife Mary J. b. 15 Jan 1831, NB; also living with them widowed son Beaman b. 21 Mar 1875 and his children. They were living in Lansdowne Ward. Unfortunately I did not copy down exact location on the census as I was only concerned that they could possibly have been the grandparents of my great aunt's husband. He was Herbert G. Naves b. 12 July 1895 son of Joseph (N?) Naves b. 12 July 1862, teamster, Methodist, and wife Charlotte b. 2 april 1872 Newfoundland, immigrated 1892.They were in Dufferin Ward #75, #122. It was only because of the shared first name that I thought they might be related. You gave no dates but perhaps they are the Joseph and Mary Jane you are looking for. They were other Naves families on that census also, if memory serves correct. Hope this is of some use. Jan
