In the Sunbury County, New Brunswick, Marriages, Vol. 1, book C0917, his name is listed as Johnston. The following is a transcript from the volume:

JOHNSTON, ALEXANDER, Burton, to JOHNSTON, Mary Jane, Maugerville, on 26, Jul 1853, by, AVG Wiggins (no denomination or church affiliation noted). Witnesses were: Andrew McCarthy / Robert Johnston.
