I am trying to determine what ever happened to a Mabel E. Burgess born in 1886. She married a David Shanks, widower of Emma Lint, on September 22nd, 1900 in Houlton, Maine. Although listed on the marriage certificate as 21 she was really only 15 years old and is listed as such on the 1901 Canadian Census still living with and married to David Shanks.
Sometime between 1901 and 1911 David returns to his native Scotland. He resides in the Kyle Poorhouse where he dies in 1913. David is listed as a widower of Emma Lint with no mention of Mabel. I do not believe Mabel accompanied him to Scotland.
Mabel may have been the daughter of John Bradford Burgess and Mary Jane Woods of Springfield, NB. If so she had three siblings; Richard, Jane and Charles Thomas Burgess.
I cannot find an annulment, divorce, remarriage, death certificate or any other information about Mabel after 1901.
Can anyone help?
