There were basically two groups of Banfields living on the Fortune Bay side of the Burin Peninsula in Newfoundland. One group was from a town called Garnish and the other from up the coast in Bay L'Argent. My own family was from the latter place. I have no record of an Alice Banfield marrying a David Sutherland so perhaps she came from Garnish.
