New to Canada research ~ REDMOND, RILEY

Some news came in that totally threw me off track and I'm needing some help. My mysterious Great Great Grandmother, Barbara MURPHY is really Barbara REDMOND b. 1868 in St. John's, Newfoundland,Canada!

The ? MURPHY must've been a first marriage. Here's what I know:

Barbara's parents are on her second marriage record are; father is Dennis Redmond, mother Elizabeth Riley, all from St. John's Newfoundland. They emigrated @ 1875 to MA or NJ. I saw the great Grand Banks site, no luck with my dates. So I'm needing:

Barbara's birth or christening info @ April 1868.

If there's was an 1870 Census there, they all may be on it. I don't know if it's East, West or St. John's Bay.

Also, maybe her parents, birth, Baptist ch., and marriage. They probably were naturalized in Orange, New Jersey so there would be no other records, will, or anything past 1875, I think. Can anyone please help? Kind thanks, Tim McGarry
