I have put together a bit of information about Fox Bay, Anticosti. Please email me at sl@hawk.igs.net and I will send you the Word file. It gives some history about the settlement.
The Drouin collection on Ancestry does have some baptisms and burials from Fox Bay. They are listed under the Gaspe Methodist church. I searched Sam Emberley and found a death in 1884 from cancer, aged 53, native of Newfoundland... as were most of the Fox Bay settlers.
You didn't mention when Sam left Anticosti but I checked the 1881 Census of Canada at www.familysearch.org and don't find an Emberley family at Fox Bay. However, the transcription is questionnable re: spelling so search "Henry Troke" and that will take you to the Fox Bay listings....then select Household and from there you can search forward and back through the households (watching that the Census Place is listed as Isle of Anticosti, Chicoutimi & Saguenay, Quebec). You might find a household and surname that is close to Emberley. (The majority of the settlers left that fall due to harsh conditions....just a few stayed on at Anticosti until they were expelled in the early 1900's)
Looking forward to hearing from you. Good luck with your search!
