Surnames: Channing, Murphy, Dunphy, Whitten
I'm just starting out with this so I really don't have much information.
My gradnmothjer's maiden name was Mary Grace Whitten. She married William J Murphy and they lived in St John's. Her father's name was George Burgess Whitten. From the stories my mother used to tell, they lived over on the South Side Hills, just outside St John's. I believe this was also known as the Blackhead area. Does any of this tie into your research??? Perhaps we can end up helping each other.
