Hi Cyril, good to hear from you again...
This time I'm on the prowl for Scottish roots for my grandmother Kathleen Duffenais nee MacDonald. I'm fairly certain that we do not tie into any MacIsaacs who came from Arisaig, Scotland, to Inverness, to Bay St. George. I think it would likely be only through intermarriage. I've seen Don Bennett's work on the MacIsaacs who settled in Codroy Valley and no where can I tie my MacIsaacs or MacDonalds in Little River to those in Codroy or elsewhere.
I've been in touch with different MacDonalds and MacIsaacs and all we can agree on is that we can't find my links. Given the difficulty of tying into anyone else's family tree in Codroy or elsewhere in Nfld, I'd say that the Canna connection is right and someway we are related to Angus the Pioneer MacIsaac who came from Canna to PEI and then moved to Broad Cove. I'm at the beginning of trying to piece that information together and I'm waiting for some information from my cousin, Jim Ogden, great-grandson of Daniel MacIsaac and Sarah "Sally" MacDonald.
I have been told that the grandfather of John MacIsaac who married Maisie Tallack, was brother to my gg grandmother Mary MacIsaac, who married Donald "Big Dan" MacDonald. But I can't bridge the gap to find the info I need.I'd suspect that once I do begin finding more, I'll find your Augustus. I recall seeing an Augustus as witness to Mary MacIsaac and Donald MacDonald's wedding. I wonder if he was a brother. Mary had 9 brothers and was the only girl. He might be one of the 9.
