Surnames: BENOIT/CHEGO/CHEYO/SHEGONE
Thanks to one of my cousins who sent me a large file on the Benoit's of St. George's, I can now trace my roots back to Francois BENOIT who married Anne L'OFFICIAL. Francois' parents were Augustin BENOIT & Francoise TERRIOT, while Anne's parents were Henri L'OFFICIAL & Elizabeth CHEGO (SHEGONE) also known as Isabelle CHEYO. I have been told that Elizabeth was a native indian, but no written proof has been found. Can anyone help me?
