Will of John Meredith, late of New Britain Township, Bucks County, PA, USA, but now of county of Annapolis, Province of Nova Scotia. Bequeathed to friend Abraham Chapman, county of Annapolis, "as proof of grateful sese I have of his unmerited kindness and attention to me"--150 pounds Nova Scotia currency; Mary, wife of Abraham--20 pounds; John, son of Abraham--20 pounds. Appointed "brother Simon Meredith by Letter of Attorney, to act in my stead in receiving monies from father's estate or any other person in Pennsylvania". Bequeathed to Charles Meredith, son of brother Hugh, all money which shall remain of my compensation, legacies to Abraham, Mary and John Chapman. Legacy also to Elizabeth Meredith and such other children of brother Hugh and may be living at time of deceased. Executors: Hugh Meredith, Charles Meredith and Abraham Chapman. Will written 27 June 1787; probated (in Annapolis) 30 July 1787. Witnesses: Jolly Longshore, Amos Chapman, Edward Bowlby. (Source: Franklin County Wills, as recorded at Chambersburg, PA.) No clue why this will was filed and registered at Chambersburg, but posted on this website in case someone may be related.
