This is not a name that I am researching but I thought I’d take a look and see what I could find.

Cape Breton County Reg Year 1906, Book 1805, page 209 #59
February 11, 1906, Sydney Mines, by Banns, Roman Catholic
Robert King, age 35 bachelor , carpenter residing Sydney Mines,. Born North Sydney son of (writing difficult to make of-could be Henry, Harvey or Harry) and Bridget
Married Isabel Francis, age 32, spinster born Sydney Mines dau of George and Annie

The 1901 and 1911 Canadian Census is online at
www.automatedgenealogy.com.
You should be able to find the above families in the 1901. I did a quick search and found the family of Henry and Bridget King living in Cape Breton County with children Alice, Joseph, and Hubert.

The 1881 Canadian Census is online at
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?P...

The three sites I've listed above should give you lots of new material to research and answer some of your questions
Happy Hunting
