Don't know if you have been able to gather more info in the intervening years but John was the son of Alexander Timmons (born 1855 and died 1933) and Ellen Fitzgerald (born 1861 and died 1903). He was born on 10 July 1884 (in Pleasant Bay) and died on 20 May 1953 (in Sydney Mines) per his death record. He married Martha Grace Burns on 3 February 1908. She was born on 7 December 1892. Her parents were Joseph Benjamin (born 1835 and died 1912) and Mary Sarah Boutilier (born 1857 and died 1916). He served in WW1. Lillian Margaret was born on 11 December 1908 and Florence was born in March 1909. The girls show up on the 1911 census. Not sure about the boys. There is a family tree that lists his wife as Margaret Grace Urquhart which would answer why his wife was listed as Grace (we had assumed it was Martha Grace).
I am related to both sides as my grandparents were siblings to both John James and Martha.
