William Porter & Martha Sophia Pineo.
As the story goes two brothers arrived from either Massachusetts or Connecticut. One settled in Kings County & we no nothing of the other. William Porter Married Martha Sophia Pineo. They were married Nov. 15, 1873 in Canning N.S. Martha's birth date was Nov 16, 1853. They had 10 children all born in Cape Blomiden, King's County.
At some point they moved their family to Springhill where I have found information on a few of the children that married there. (1) Rosannah Porter: b. abt. 1877 & married Robert M. Carter on Jan 2, 1895 in Springhill. (2) Aurthur Porter: b. abt. 1879 & married Annie Main on July 13, 1907 in Springhill. (3) Agnes Porter: b. abt. 1880 & married Judson Terris June 25, 1902 in Springhill. (4) Etta Porter: b. abt. 1887 & married George Beck on June 22, 1904 in Springhill. (5) Clarence Fenwick Porter: b. June 23, 1892 & d. June 10 1944 in Glace Bay, N.S. he married Eleanor Jane Killam: b. Jan. 12, 1899 in Springhill, she died Mar 7, 1978 in Glace Bay. They married abt. May 2, 1913. The other children I have no information on, are: David Porter, Ethel Porter, Fredrick Porter, Percie Porter & Victor Porter all born in Cape Blomidon.
I do know that one of the victims of the 1958 Bump was a first cousin to Clarence David ( Dave or stump) Porter who was the son of Clarence Fenwick Porter. The name of the cousin that died in the 1958 Bump was Stirling Porter.
If anyone has information on any of the above mentioned names it would be greatly appreciated.
