Re: Charles Ward and Sarah Smith
Hi Judy, I haven't found anything else for sure about Mary Ann, but I only have a look once and a while, someday I'll have to get in to the archives and do an in depth search. I think she might be the grandaughter of George Nolte a Hessian soldier who settled in Dutch Village. He had two sons and I know who they married but not their children. They are the right age to have Mary Ann. But I don't know for sure if either settled in Shubenacadie.
On the Nova Scotia Vital Stats there are only a few from the Nolter family in Shubenacadie, they claim to be German (census) which supportes the Hessian theory, and with the dates on the Vital Stats the earlies dates could give me the names of either a brother or nephew to Mary Ann, but no proof just speculation. Still lots more work to be done, I guess the next step would be some land records.
In any case, my email is dlselig (at) ns (dot) sympatico (dot) ca if you would like to contact me personally, if you are from James and Mary Ann then you would be my husband's cousin. No hurry I won't be able to get back to you until later in the week.
Bye for now,
Dorothy
