Rogers & Benoit from Pomquet to New York City

Classification: Query
Surnames: Rogers Benoit
I am descended from William A Rogers of Pomquet. The best information I have from a death certificate of one of William's son, William Jr., the parents' names were Abraham Rogers and Virginia (Benoit) Rogers.

Family lore is that a male relative once made a trip to Nova Scotia and located a cousin who was a member of the clergy in a church other than the Catholic church.

The 1880 U.S. census for New York City shows William A Rogers and family residing there. In addition to his wife and sons, there are two nephews listed:

Alfred Rogers (age 22, born about 58) and Norman Rogers (age 20, born about 1860)

The inclusion of the nephews implies that William A Rogers had at least one brother in Pomquet.

Family lore also indicates that there were Rogers cousins living in New York City in the late 1920s.

Any information will be appreciated.
