Seeking info on Lelacheurs

I am looking for any information on the descendants of Margaret Louise Evans and John Louis Mowatt Lelacheur that were in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

Margaret Louise Evans was born in Hampton, Kings County, New Brunswick July 19, 1898 to Lillian Blanche Fowler and Edwin George Evans. I believe she went by Louise. She married John Louis Mowatt Lelacheur in Amherst, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia on 21 September 1925.

John Louis Mowatt Lelacheur was born in Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick on January 12, 1895 to John Lelacheur and Anna Mowatt. I believe he went by Louis.

According to the death notice of Louise's brother, she was named as surviving him in 1947 and living in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. According to the death notice of Louis' mother, she had one son that survived her in 1956 as well as two granddaughters and one grandson. From what I have been able to find regarding John and Anna's family through census records, John Louis should have been the only surviving child, so I believe he is the son listed as surviving her, even though he is not named.

I'd appreciate any help anyone might be able to offer.

Mary Caroline was the wife of G. Nelson Benjamin. Does anyone know who her parents were? Someone on Ancestry had her death at over 100 years and in the provincial hospital in Dartmouth/Cole Harbour. I found a Mary Benjamin of that age in the census as a patient there, but how do we know that was our Mary?

Hi, I am trying to research the Greenough/Greeno Family from Nova Scotia. I am told they are from the Lakeville, Kings County, Nova Scotia area. I did find them on the census there. Found, William Greeno, wife listed as: Abbie ? Children: Rosie, George, Melinda, William Olevea, and Elkey Greeno. Although, on the census the name was spelled, Greno. Gurdon Denison, Catherine Fitzpatrick, Matilda Denison

I am looking for the parents of Matilda Denison, b 1807 in Gaspereau, Kings County, Nova Scotia. Does anyone have access to birth records in that time frame? She is supposedly the daughter of a Mic Mac "lad" and probably one of Gurdon Denison, Sr. & Catherine Fitzpatrick's daughters - Catherine, Prudence, Ann "Nancy" or Elizabeth "Betcy." Ann & Elizabeth married and there's no mention of a child born in 1807 among their children. Prudence died unmarried in 1852. Gurdon, Sr. died in 1807; he was a Dr. and a member of the Halifax Assembly.

It is said that the Denisons "covered over" Matilda's birth. Gurdon, Sr. certainly would have had the opportunity and authority as a Dr. Their daughter, Catherine, seems to be a mystery as there is no further info on her so far. Any ideas as to where to look and how? It's my understanding that the Gaspereau Mountain area is a close knit community. The Denisons appeared to live in Horton.

Gurdon's ancestors came from the CT line of Denisons. It was apparently common knowledge that Matilda was a Denison. She married Augustus Eagles in 1828 on Gaspereau Mountain and had 10 children there.

Hi. I have wonderful memories of my father and and his family who orginated from the Tremont area (his parents were James and Christina). My father was Donald MacGinnis. His sisters were Florence (Flossie) Reese (married to Edgar Reese) and Minnie (maried to Freeman Oikle). Dad's brothers were Cecil (married to Irene) and Stuart (married to Opal and later to Gladys).

My Canadian cousins are out there somewhere: Leslie, Debbie (Reese); Heather and Pam (MacGinnis) and I know there are many others. I would so love to know how to contact you.

Seeking Information on Rupert SWEET born to Leander and Loraine Brown SWEET in Nova Scotia around 1861. Nova Scotia marriage records indicate Clara Bellefountaine and Rupert E. Sweet married 1894 in Antigonish County.Rupert is listed as 32 yr old widower/merchant, Clara as a 19 yr old spinster.

It is Rupert’s previous wife I am trying to indentify, and confirm that they were the parents of E. Saunders Sweet, born in 1893, and Jay Leander Sweet, born about 1883. Any help most appreciated.

I am looking for information on the DeElls from Berwick. My maternal grandfather was Lewis DeEll, his parents were Sampson and Clara. There were quite a few children besides Lewis.

Also, my paternal great-grandfather was Percy Webb from Kingsport. His father was Jehu Augusta Webb originally from Noel, Hants co, then Lockhartville, then Kingsport. I would love to have more information on both, particularly who Percy's mother was. There is some confusion because his (Percy's) obituary lists a lady who had passed away 4 years before he was born.

I appreciate all the books and CDs on the various sites in regards to Kings County. However, they do not aid me presently in my dilema. My great grandfather of Aylesford, David Anderson b.1865 to Alexander and Susanna Anderson and died at Aylesford Station on 28 April 1897 according to the "The Aylesford Union" of that year. He was married to an Marie Eva Demers (between 1891-1893) and had two children David Anderson b. 12 June 1893 and Nina Lilian Anderson b. 25 Jan 1896. From all oral history they would have been born in the Aylesford area. The family may have been Baptists.
Inspite of the above information, I can not find any records of the marriage nor the births of the two children.
I can not find the ancestry line of Mr. David Anderson whose father was Alexander Anderson.

Hi folks. I would appreciate any help in locating the parents of Lavinia Schofield. She was born abt.1843 in Halls Harbour,Kings Co.,N.S. and married Elijah Pineo Mar.15,1865, Cornwallis Baptist Ch.,Kings Co.,N.S. I believe that she may be a daughter of Jeremiah Schofield (b. 1787) and Miriam Jordan or a granddaughter, I only have one son so far for Jeremiah and that is Jeremiah Jr. and he would be too young to be Lavinia's father. I descend from both the Schofield line and Elijah Pineo's line through his mother Orinda Schofield and his grandmother Sarah Ells who married John Pineo (his grandfather).

Louis Tupper died in Horton,Kings Co.,N.S. On his death record his parents are listed as William Tupper(yeoman) and Hannah Schofield. Does anyone know if his father was a brother to Charles Tupper from Ma and if Hannah is a daughter of Arthur Schofield? Arthur lived in Horton Township so it is possible Hannah was his daughter and I believe he was the only Schofield Planter that settled here.

Does anyone know who the parents of Rebecca Ann Ells are. I came across her marriage bond to Zenas Loveless,Apr.4,1862.
The bond was signed by Zenard Loveless and Abraham C Ells and witnessed by Joseph Steele. They were all from Scot's Bay. I believe she may be a daughter of Abraham Coffin Ells but I don't have any idea of her birth date. Abraham had an Uncle Joseph Steele in Scot's Bay,so I'm assuming that is who witnessed the bond.

Does anyone know the spouse's name of Daniel Coffill? I have Zureah Walsh and Zerviah Huntley with Zerviah's bd as 5 Jan 1826. Did he marry twice? What are the chances of marrying twice and getting wives whose names begin with the initial "Z?" From an Ancestry hint I got Sarah Huntley as his mother and Patrick Coffill as his father. I don't know if any of these are correct.

I have Joseph SWEET of Hants county as the son of James SWEET of Horton, Kings County. Does anyone have that info with data to back it up? I have never been able to find proof of the father of Joseph. Joseph was married first to Rosanna Barron and then to Rachael Beiswanger, all in Hants County, but my data shows the father as coming from Kings. However Hants was originally part of Kings. look for info on g.f. Minard Foster Pelton was living in berwick, Kings County at time of my father birth in 1907, was married to Cora Vineott. Had Several children, beleived all were born in this area. it's possible that Minard was raised by someone other then his parents?. They moved to Massachusestts around 1925 to 1933.

I really need some help. I have been searching for a Thompson Lyman B: about 1816 and died 11 Feb 1894. His son, Daniel Dwight Lyman (b. 11 Mar 1849 d. 5 Apr 1913 Wolfville)

I have other family tree information, but I can only seem to find a few pieces of information on Thompson. He is listed on the death records (1872) for Charles Lyman and Margaret Lyman as the "relative" contact. Other than basic census information, I cannot find anything on him. The death date I have for him comes from my Aunt, (Thompson's Great-Granddaughter) who passed away a couple of years ago.

Any information that anyone can give me to point me in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated.

My William & Catherine (Miller) Wallace are found here in 1769 when their son, Michael was born. They came from Scotland via Ireland. The info back in Scotland is murky though some info is on the Mormon site. Last year, I found the family names of Shaw, Wickwire & Wallace listed in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Gaspereau Ave., Wolfville. Does anyone Know if these might be my ancestors?

Does anyone know who the parents of Oliver Ells were? He is living in the poor house in Billtown in the 1881 census and it says he was 92 years old. That would make his birth date abt.1789. There is a Thomas Ells, b. 1854, who married 1.Sarah Hatt then Sarah Jane (Parker) Brewster. He gives his parents as Oliver Ells and Mercy/Mary Parrish. Thanks

Does anyone remember Stuart Cecil Phinney from Billtown? He died in 2005. He was married to Barbera (Atwood) Phinney. His first wife was Doris and he had a daughter named Sylvia. Greetings all from Nova Scotia Canada. My name is Tamara (Tammy) Stevens (stephens) I am researching my family tree and have finally reached a point where i know the names of whom i am looking for but not much else when it comes to my relatives in Ireland.
I am a relative of Robert and Rebecca Stephens their children that came to nova scotia were - William and Robert Stephens they had a brother named Frank whomed stayed in Kerry Ireland and they had a sister whom came to Ontario (i think not sure what her name was) that is all of the siblings i am aware of. According Arthur Wentworth Hamilton Eaton's book "The History of Kings County" Jane Coldwell, daughter of William Coldwell and Jane Jordan married Nicholas Fielding. The problem I'm having with this is that Jane was born in 1742 and Nicholas in 1761. I believe Jane was a granddaughter of William Coldwell. I would appreciate any help with this.

Margaret Evelyn MacDonald, 79, Windsor, formerly of Port Williams, Kings County, died Thursday, Feb. 2 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.

Born in East River St. Mary's Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. William and Elizabeth (Kent) MacDonald.

She was a well-known school teacher who taught throughout Nova Scotia. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Wolfville.

She is survived by two brothers, Gordon, New Glasgow; George, Halifax; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Anna (Mrs. Walter Pye).

The body rested in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Wolfville. Funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 4, St. Andrew's United Church, Wolfville, Rev. Gil Todd, Rev. Curtis MacDonald officiating. Spring burial in Athol Cemetery, Cumberland County.

Donations may be made to United Church Women of St. Andrew's United Church, Wolfville.

CONTRIBUTOR'S NOTE: Miss MacDonald was the last principal at the little school in Grand Pre' which closed in 1963 at which time students from Grand Pre\Hortville were bused to L. E. Shaw Elementary School in Avonport. She finished her teaching career at Port Williams Elementary. She never married.

Perle 1911 Census

I found a family on the NS 1911 census in River Hebert and the name has been transcribed as "PERLE" headed by Percy b. Jul 1872 and his wife Louisa b. Apr 1884. The handwritten view looks more like Peale then Perle. I haven't known any other Pearl's to settle in that area and I've not heard of this family. Our Perle's & Perl's bcame Pearl's and Pearle's. Looking for information on the children of Charles and (Sarah) Jane (Douglas) Stokes. They were married in 1859 in NB, but later moved to Chipman Brook, Kings Co. Their children are: Joseph (b1861), Alexander (1863), James (1864), Ella (1865), Cenor F. (1866), Eunice Amelia (my great great grandmother b10 Mar 1868), Sarah Jane (28 May 1870-d1872), Harding L. (1 Aug 1872), Sarah Alice (1874), (Prudence) Adelia (also my great great grandmother b 28 Jun 1876), Emma (1880) and Charles Edward (1883-1961). Charles Sr. died in 1884 and soon after Jane married Elijah E. Rockwell. I'm told that the children were then raised by other people. Any information at all would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Birth record on: Etta Amanda Warner, b. 29 Apr 1895 to Frank and Maude (Tupper) Warner.

Death records: Frank Warner, Maude (Tupper) Warner and Jenny Warner - all buried together in a cemetery in Kingston Station, but I don't know the name of it or their dates of death. I believe Maude may have died abt. 1904.

I was taking pictures of graves at The Oaks Cemetery in Kentville and came across one of William Young, died 1899 34 years old. His wife was Margaret (Rand) Young. At the time of his death Margaret was only 35 and left with 10 children, I believe she was pregnant with the tenth. Margaret and William were married in Canning Feb.9, 1888. Margaret was the daughter of Leander and Olivia Rand and William was the son of John B and Ella (Almon) Young of Halifax. Does anyone know who Leander's parents were and John B Young's. I think John B. Young may have been a descendant of the Youngs that settled Lunenburg.

My ancestors lived in Morden, Kings County, Nova Scotia for nearly a century.My great great grandmother was Mary Doherty.She was born in 1809 and married my Great great grandfather, Robert Ballou.
I'm trying to trace the Ballou family further back but have had no success.
One of my great great grandparents daughters,Ann Ballou,(born in 1834) Married an Alfred Stark.
Another daughter, Bridget Ballou,(born in 1850)married John Murphy in 1879.

Sophronia Matilda BISHOP born c1810; died aft 1851 NS Census; married John NICE born 1808 probably Saint John, New Brunswick.

1851 Kings Co., NS Census shows "Mrs. John NICE" as head of household - she was already a Widow.

She had 3 children who were still alive in 1864, the year, their grandfather, Henry A. NICE, died, as they are mentioned in his Will. The children were: Bishop NICE, Margaret NICE and possibly Elmira NICE.

Elmira NICE, 39,single, is shown on the 1881 Centreville, Kings Co., N.S., Census, along with a Bessie BISHOP, age 14,
living with Charles SHEFFIELD and his wife Adella BISHOP, who was the older sister of Bessie BISHOP. They were the daughters of Albert and Elizabeth BISHOP, Kings Co., NS.

Trying to establish relationship of Elmira NICE and perhaps have it lead me to the other NICE siblings.

Any information at all would be very appreciated.

I'm trying to find information for the family of Carl August Theodor Prehn. He was married to Henriette Ernestine W. Schultze. I'm assuming that they were married in Germany before coming to the US & Canada. There are reports that a son was born in Germany. A daughter was born in NY 27 Feb 1854. Then another daughter was born in Kentville, Nova Scotia 23 Mar 1857 and a son born 3 May 1859. I would like to find records of their birth and when they came back to the US and any other records of when they were in Nova Scotia. I've seen reports that they believe that Carl & Henriette both died in New York, but I can't find anything on that also. Any help in trying to get information would be greatly appreciated.

Born abt 1831 died aft 1866.
Need a Surname, vital statistics, her parents, anything at all about her/family, including any other children that she may have had.

Margaret (Amelia) married William (Henry) Rayner: (1826-aft 1860).

It's possible Amelia & Henry left NS.

Their daughter Margaret (Elizabeth) remained and married into the William Hiltz family, Wm died at Waterville, Kings.

Margaret (Elizabeth) Rayner b.6 Oct 1849 New Ross-d.26 Oct 1928, in Canning, Kings. Buried in Canard Cemetery, Kings. On her marriage register her mother Amelia's maiden is not listed, or is it listed on death register.

So again, I am looking for the maiden name/family of Margaret Amelia Rayner/Raynor/Raymond?

And the family of her husband William Henry Rayner who resided in Kings County & New Ross, Lunenburg County.

Elizabeth nee Grant/Flintoff Ward maiden name debate.

This is in reference to the debate over the maiden name for our progenitor, Elizabeth Ward, of Yorkshire, England and immigrant to Nova Scotia on May 9, 1774 aboard the Two Friends. Benjamin Fielding Ward is the grandson of Elizabeth and William Ward by way of son David Ward. Benjamin Fielding and Permutia Palmeter’s sixth child is Sarah Grant Ward. Sarah Grant Ward was born in 1857 and died May 27 1859, one of five children variously reported to have died of diphtheria within a week of each other. The middle given name for Sarah Grant could be in honour of her paternal grandmother’s maiden family name. This fact suggests a further argument that Elizabeth Ward’s maiden name is not Flintoff, or any version thereof, but is indeed Grant.

I have requested information on a source many times that might be able to give me a firm basis for the true surname of the Elizabeth Ward nee Grant/Flintoff name debate. The Kings Historical Society’s working copy of Ronald E. Illsley’s, Descendants of William Ward and Elizabeth (Grant) Ward, Beach Hill, Kings County, Nova Scotia, (Call number: 2003.46), has given me reason to argue for the Grant camp of researchers. The information on Sarah Grant Ward that I viewed, is found in the Family Group Record-MRIN 5937, pages 1 and 2. I trust this will prompt someone to add an additional documented source to add to my file, if it exists. To date I have only been informed of the authenticity of the Grant name claim, but have yet to see the proof. My inference here is the closest hard evidence I have found for the Grant camp and it is deduced from the information contained herein. If I am wrong, then let it be so, but send me your verifiable proof one way or the other.

My question: Is the John (& Sarah Brewster) on the 1901 census with children Eva, Effie, Flora, Winnie, Lilian, Charles W., Violet & Harry, the son of Asher or the son of Ephraim? She is survived by seven sons, Gerald, Middleton; Franzell and Frank, both of White Rock; Harlan, Leo and Blake, all of Black River; Eldon, Dundas, Ont.; four daughters, Mrs. Florence Benjamin, Hantsport; Renna (Mrs. Andrew Keating), New Minas; Anne (Mrs. Dean Schofield), White Rock; Sandra (Mrs. Bernard Forsythe), Wolfville Ridge; a foster brother, Vincent Schofield , White Rock; 41 grandchildren; a number og great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Emery Spinney, a daughter Vilda; three brothers, Arthur, Trueman, and Walter; two sisters Olivia and Blanche; a grand-daughter.

The body was at H.C. Lindsay's Funeral Home, Wolfville. Funeral was November 29 in Black River Baptist Church, Rev. Gary Manthorne officiated with burial in Black River Cemetery.

Born in Merrimac, Mass., he was a son of the late Kenneth and Florence (Grey) Sharpe.

Surviving besides his second wife, the former Bernice Neiforth; are two sons, George, West Warwick, R.I.; Glenn, Avonport; three daughters Marguerite (Mrs. Lloyd Gates), Port Williams; Kathleen (Mrs. Wililam Hall), Sydney; Lynn (Mrs. Donald Baldwin), Kentville; three brothers, Fred, Arizona; Chester and James, both of Massachusetts; three sisters, Dora (Mrs. C. Goodwin), Rhode Island; Mrs. Florence King and Helen, both of Massachusetts; 14 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Nellie Stilwell; three brothers and three sisters.

The body was at H. C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville where funeral service was held Monday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Edgar Richardson officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove cemetery, Kentville.

Nowlan's of Kings Co.

I'm looking for information on my G,G,G,Grandfather, Patrick Nowlan,(Nowlin). He was born around 1784, I think . He was married to Sarah Eagles. She was born in 1784. If I can find out his correct birth date, or his son Robert's correct birth date, it would complete my Nowlan family line in Canada, and may even leed to links over in Ireland. The problem I'm having is the census tells me that Robert was born in 1809, but other information from books state that he was born in 1825. The same as his first wife, Arminilla Eagles, born abt. 1825, and his second wife, Roseanna Coldwell, born in 1825. 1825 makes more sense when you do the math according to his children's birth dates. Other information I have on Patrick states he was born in 1797 which makes this all the more confusing. I've been looking at this problem for over two years now, and I haven't much hair left. I live in Ontario, so correct information is hard to come by. If anyone can help me, or let me know of some one who could, I would appreciate this greatly.

Born in Black River, he was a son of the late Edgar and Agnes J.(Schofield) Weir.

He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in the United Kingdom and Europe. He was a recipient of the Korean and United Nations medals. He was a member of Kings Branch No. 6 Royal Canadian Legion, Kentville.

He is survived by three brothers, Lawrence, Kentville; Lester, New Minas; Dick, Wellington, Halifax Co.; seven sisters Evelyn, Black River; June (Mrs. George Knickle), Marion (Mrs. Edward Hyland) both of Halifax; Olive (Mrs. Gordon MacNab), Dartmouth; Irene (Mrs. Frank Davis) London, Ont.; Hazel (Mrs. William Sherrill), Florida; Beverly (Mrs. Basil Duncanson), Hortonville.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Ellis, Arthur, Avemen.

I have a couple snaps of an elderly lady with Aunt Tilly Rogers passed away at 105 years of age written on the back of one of them. One of the photos (b & w) was developed in October 1962 and the other (in colour) is a little later. I've checked with the Rogers family and no one seems to know who she is. Again she would have been a Kings Co., Nova Scotia resident and no doubt a friend of my grandmother, Ethel Pearl(e), if not a relative. If anyone knows who she is, I'd like to hear from you.

A few days ago I was observing two researchers on this board with a particular topic. I made an unfortunate comment which was meant to go to my friend and not to this board, and hence around the world. I have offended a fellow researcher and have been in touch with her today privately ironing out the issue.
Dorothy is an avid researcher as many of you know, and my comment sounded unkind. I am deeply sorry to have caused her embarrassment.
I asked the board to remove the comment. To date that has not been done.

WOLFVILLE - Mrs. Roy H. Eaton, of Wolfville and formerly of Grand Pre, died Monday, Feb. 21 in Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital, Wolfville.

Born in Shropshire, England, she was the former Alice Ethel Jones, daughter of the late Edmund and Amelia Jones.

Surviving are a step-sister and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband.

The body was at H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville. Funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in St. John's Anglican Church, Wolfville, Rev. Douglas Hergett officiated. Burial was in Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pre.

PORT WILLIAMS - Ralph Regan, 82, of Port Williams, died Saturday in Grand View Manor, Berwick.

Born in Port Williams, he was a son of the late Mark and Laura (Lockwood) Regan.

He is survived by his wife, the former Jessie Emma Garland; one daughter, Laura (Mrs. T. Schofield), Halifax; two sons, Garland, Halifax; and John, Port Williams; four sisters, Mabel (Mrs. E.P. White) and Queenie (Mrs. E. E. Fraser), both of Port Williams; Blanche (Mrs. A. W. Longley), Lawrencetown; and Mattie, Middleton; one brother, Norman, Windsor; and five grandchildren.

She(He) was predeceased by one brother, Dixon.

WOLFVILLE - Mrs. Raleigh Eagles, 83, of Highland Avenue, Wolfville, died Monday in Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital.

Born in Black River, she was the former Abbie (Abigail) Blanche Ells, daughter of the late Fred and Annie (Meisner) Ells.

She was a member of the Black River Baptist Church and the Black River Community Club.

Surviving are her husband, a brother, Raleigh, North Allboro (Attleboro, Mass); two sisters, Dolly (Mrs. Lloyd Joudrey), Windsor; Mabel (Mrs. Leverett Long), Victoria Beach.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Stella, four brothers, Leslie, Ralph, Gordon, Hughie and a sister Daisy.

The body is at H. C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville, where funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 3:30 pm. Burial will be in Black River Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Black River Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.

NORTH GRAND PRE - Miss Jean Marie Eagles, 54, died Monday in Kingston.

Born in North Grand Pre, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Julia (Eaton) Eagles.

She was a member of the Grand Pre United Church and was a dedicated worker in the community.

She is survived by two brothers, Donald, Wolfville, and Douglas, Sarnia, Ont.; two sisters, Shirley (Mrs. Ken Stevenson), St. Lambert, Que.; Ruth, Montreal.

The body was at H. C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville, where funeral service was Wednesday, at 1:20 pm., Rev. J.D. Archibald officiated.

Burial in Grand Pre Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart Fund or St. Andrews United Church, Wolfville.

George McInnis and Jane Bezanson

I'm looking for any information on George McInnis and Jane Bezanson. They were married around 1898. George was born around 1873 and Jane around 1878. I'm looking for where they were married. Also who is George? Who are his parents and family? Where is he from? I can't seem to find him in any census that are online. If anyone has any info, I'd really appreciate it.

BLACK RIVER - Russell William Atwell, 68, of Black River, Kings County, died Jan. 27 at Miller Hospital, Kentville.

Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late William M. and Ella May (Hardacker) Atwell.

He worked as a farmer and woodsman most of his life.

He is survived by a brother, Owen, Grand Pre; three sisters, Mrs. Rita Robicheau, Wolfville; Mrs. Stella Schofield, Medway, Mass.; and Mabel (Mrs. Arthur Best), Grand Pre.

The body was at H. C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville, where funeral service was Jan. 30. Rev. Gary Manthorne officiated. Burial was in Grand Pre Cemetary.

WOLFVILLE - Colin Frank Atwell, 77, Wolfville, died Monday, May 6 in Blanchard-Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville.

Born in Melanson, he was a son of the late Allan and Elizabeth (Faulkner) Atwell.

He served in the 87-88 Field Battery in the Royal Canadian Army during the Second World War. He was employed with R. W. DeWolfe Ltd. until he retired in 1969. He was a member of the Gaspereau Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, the former D. Marion Jordan; eight daughters, Josephine (Mrs. Jack Colson), Dartmouth; Joyce (Mrs. Karl Nowlan Jr.) St. John; Geneva (Mrs. Phillip Long), New Minas; June Balcom, Wolfville; Colleen (Mrs. George Hovell), North Attleboro, Mass.; Sharon (Mrs. Douglas Walsh), Forest Hill; Sandra (Mrs. R.F. Clahane, Jr.), Karsdale; Theresa Baldwin, Sparwood, B.C.; a brother, Idus, Cornwall, Ont; three sisters, Marie (Mrs. John Blair), Melanson; Annie Davidson and Eleanor (Mrs. George Shaw), both of Toronto; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Catherine Colson; four sisters, Ethel, Frances, Myrtle and Madora; four brothers, Cecil, Brent, Allan and Fred; and infant brother.

The body rested in H. C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville. Funeral was held Wednesday, May 8, in Gaspereau Baptist Church, Rev. Murrary Armstrong officiating, assisted by Rev. Harold Beaumont.

Donations may be made to Blanchard-Fraser Memorial Hospital intensive care unit.
