Railway Camerons of Pictou

I am trying to find the parents and origins of Samuel Donald Cameron, b. approx. 1832 or 1833 in Pictou, Nova Scotia and died probably in May of 1900. He worked all of his life as a railway engineer.

He may have had brothers James William Cameron , who was living with Samuel Cameron in the 1871 Pictou census and working as a fireman, possibly with the railway; and Allan Cameron, whose photograph appears with the Cameron family records identified as only "Uncle Allan Cameron" and who may have run a railway hotel.

Samuel Cameron married Elizabeth Doyle, of Bedford, Nova Scotia, in Halifax, on the 8th of November, 1860. Their children were:

Margaret Catherine (my ancestor) b. 1861
Abert Lewis, b. 1863
Samuel Arthur, b. 1866
Edith McCulloch, b. 1870
Blanche Eliza, b. 1874
Stella May, b. 1876
Eva Constance, b. 1879

All were born in Nova Scotia. Then, the whole family, including one of Elizabeth's brothers, Thomas Doyle, moved with the railway to Winnipeg/Brandon, Manitoba. I have quite a lot of information on the children , and have most graciously been given an enormous amount on Elizabeth Doyle, but I know nothing of Samuel Donald Cameron of Pictou.

Any help much appreciated.
