On July 6, 2008 Sunday commencing at 1:00pm at the Six Nations Veterans Hall, Chiefswood Road, Six Nations we will be having a speaker:
Mr. John Davis topic will be, "Examples of Archival Documents containing Six Nations Family History". Most of these examples will be documents, created in the early 1800s, which found their way into the files of government officials, and can now be found in the Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa, or in the Archives of Ontario in Toronto.
Mr. Davis was born in Brant County, and has been researching various southwestern Ontario family histories for the last 30 years, which is how he started using the records that he will be talking about. Professionally, Mr. Davis studied law at the University of Toronto, and librarianship and computer science at the University of Western Ontario. He has also worked as a law librarian at the University of Manitoba, and managed the law libraries at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, and the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto and taught legal research and writing to law students for over 25 years.
We look forward to seeing everyone there and thank Mr. Davis for taking the time to share his knowledge with us.
If you chose, you may also bring a snack or refreshment for sharing.
** Please circulate for those whom may be interested **
