Wish to correspond with anyone researching the GROAT/CRYSLER surname.
I am trying to put together the family of my g.g.grandfather's brother, Peter GROAT m. to Sophia BELVITIE in 1851 in Brant Co. Church records list them as "mixed race", residence as Grand River. Children ?

Peter had two known sisters.
Margaret m. Lewis RICHARDS in 1849, lived Tuscarora Twp.
They are noted as "coloured". Children?

Jemima m. Solomon NASH in 1865, Brant Co. They are noted as Tuscarora Tribe. Children ?

Another sister (?) m. a CRYSLER, as a grandson James CRYSLER is mentioned in a will. This family likely lived at some time in Brant Co. also. Records show the GROAT/CRYSLER families intermarried often so they are difficult to sort out.
