Hi,

Looking for anyone who may have info on the family of Thomas Pentland.

He moved from Mono between 1868 and 1871 and in 1871 had three of his kids baptized at the Wesleyan Methodist Church. At that time, he listed his residence as Kinloss.

In 1878, his daughter Margaret Jane married Thomas McCutcheon, in Teeswater. She lists her residence as Kinloss.

I haven't been able to locate the family in the 1871 Census, nor do I know where they lived while in Kinloss.

Does anyone know which newspapers may have served that area between 1870 and 1881?

Below is the listing of her marriage.
. "Thomas McCutcheon, 24, farmer, Mono, Kinloss, s/o Henry & Sarah, married Margaret Jane Pentland, 17, Mono, Kinloss, d/o Thomas & Deborah Ann, witn: Isaac Pentland & Sarah Gillies, both of Kinloss, 12 July (1878) at Teeswater." I have quite a lot of information (too much to itemise here) about them and their descendants, but would be pleased to hear from any descendants who can add to the tree. They occur in indexes as LANG, SAUG and other fantasy variants.

Hi Christena.
As you can see by my posts I am working on various Anderson's, Good's and Collin's in Bruce Co again. It seams like all roads lead to this County at some point or other for my families. Later they nearly all moved to Manitoba or South Dakota.
Is the Ontario Death index online or on microfilm. I am looking for the death of Catherine Collins who was married to William Collins. She died only 10 years after they were married and is buried in Bervie Cemetry in Kincardine Twp. Her date of death was October 7, 1872 and I want to order her death certificate but need the registration number. Catherine's maiden name was Anderson. Could you have a look to see if she is listed if you have the index?
Thank you once again
Doris

Johann and Theresa had a son John in 1884 before moving on to the Parry Sound district in 1885.
I would like to locate some records of their time in Chepstow and if there are also records of Benjamin (Benno), Johann, Anna or Balthasar Lang residing in Chepstow between 1883 and 1887. There name might have ben changed to Long.
Thank you for any help you can supply in this regard.

Larry.

Would anyone live close to Bayview Cemetery in Keppel Township, Grey County to look up some decendants who I believe are buried there?

Rev. Duncan McNaughton (1825 - 1899)
Hardy Stuart McNaughton (1869 - 1877) Duncan's son
Margaret Cook (1876 age 45 years) ??

Duncan owned the plot there and I believe he may be buried there. Hardy and Margaret are buried there.

Also, anyone who might know who this Margaret Cook McNaughton was. I know it was not Duncan's wife.

Thanks,
Laurie
Searching for Marriage record for Allan McLennan and Mary Matheson about 1878 possible in Paisley

am trying to find the marriage certificate for Allan McLennan (b 1832 Scotland) and Mary Matheson sp? (born 1859 Scotland). According to information from census records Allan McLennan emigrated from Scotland in 1849 with his younger brother Roderick (b. 1940 Scotland). I assume they found work as laborers until they could afford their own farmers and then sent back home for wives.

According the the cenus Mary Matheson emigrated from Scotland in 1878. I believe this is the same year she and Allan would have been married. According to family stories Allan was 45 and Mary 19 when they were married (1878?.) For the 1871 Census Allan McLennan appears living in DISTRICT :Bruce North (28), Sub-district :Bruce (A) and in the 1881 Cenus Allan and Mary are living in Bruce, Bruce North, Ontario. My grandmother Elizabeth and her nine brothers and sisters were born in Paisley Ontario.

I have tried ever variation I can think of using the LDS IGI but I don't find any reference to Allan and Mary's marriage nor the marriage of Allan younger brother Roderick and Elizabeth Mitchell Petrie in about 1882. Any infor would be greatly appreciated
McLeods Kincardine

Trying to confirm parents of Murdoch .b 1802 Assynt Scotland and Jessie/Jannet b. 1814. I believe parents were Murdoch and Effy McNicol McLeod m. Assynt 1801. This family of 10 emigrated to Nova Scotia 1820 as followers of Rev. Norman McLeod.
Murdoch Jr m. Jannet Mcleod 1810-1880 at St Anns NS abt 1829 and had 12 children, probably moved to kincardine 1850s.
Jessie/Jannet m. Alexander McLeod 1802-1877 probably St. Anns before 1834. They had 8 children in NS and 4 in Kincardine.
Murdoch's dau Isabella 1847-1914 m. John "black jack" McLeod 1836-1912 son of Jessie/Jannet and Alexander,
Isabella and John were 1st cousins.
This leads me to believe that Murdoch and Jessie/Jannet were siblings and that Murdoch Sr. and Effy were their parents???

Paisley Advocate lookups for McNallys

I was wondering if anyone might have access to the "Paisley Advocate". I found a listing of Births, Deaths and Marriages from the Paisley Advocate that was published by the Bruce County Genealogical Society. I only had time to copy some pages from 1901-1920 of my relatives but would love to have copies of the original articles. I'd be glad to pay for any expenses or a reasonable fee.

Births:
Oct. 6, 1906 to Dr. T. J. McNally a son

Marriages:
Sept. 7, 1905 Thos. J. McNally and Lena MacIsaac
March 30, 1909 D. McLeod and Etta McNally (my grandparents)
March 12, 1913 Wm. Woods and Lena Ethel McNally
Dec. 5, 1915 Hector McNally and Annie Gottschalk (my great aunt & uncle)
Feb. 14, 1917 Chas. Graham and Lottie McNally
Oct 20, 1920 Richard McRae and Minnie McNally (my great aunt & uncle)

Deaths:
Feb. 28, 1903 Annie McNally
May 12, 1904 Harriet Lane w/o Thos.
Marriage Lookup - Paisley or Mount Forest

Hello

Can anyone do a marriage look up which might help with my brick wall.

Dennis Alexander Murphy married Ellen Mickle / Meikle between 1874 and 1876. This is a bit of a guess. Their first child was born in 1877.

They lived in Paisley, but had connections to Mount Forest and Chesley. Dennis was Roman Catholic, Ellen was Presbyterian. Neither church was established in the community at the time of their marriage.

Any held would be appreciated.

Susan Murphy

In the 1901 census he has gained a wife, Jane and three children; Ethel b. 1894, Edwin b. 1895 and Olive b. 1899. On the 1891 census, same page, there is another Charbonneau family, Sarah age 55, Robert age 20, Isabella age 19 and Joseph age 18. Is Thomas related to the second family? Sarah's father was Thomas Haggard, from Huron County. Joseph eventually married my gt aunt Catherine Ann McCallum.

Sarah and Antoine Charbonneau are buried in Colpoy's Bay, Edgehill, Cemetery.

Thanks for any information provided

I am looking for my husband's gr-gr-gr-grandfather, Fransis Shettle. I managed to find him in Quebec in the Canadian 1851 Census with his whole family, but have hit a dead-end after and before that. the only one I can trace is his son, Moses - my husband's gr-gr grandfather, who settled in Vermont. The last name changed to Shuttle when he was married. Before 1851 and after, I have not been able to trace any other family members. Especially interested in Fransis and Sophah ( the parents). Have heard they may have been from Ontario originally. Children were Charlott, Mary, Edward, Fransis, Sophah, and Moses. Moses b. 1849ish. Fransis born in Canada, 1790ish -- and Sophah born in Canada in 1810ish. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

I am looking for any information regarding Mary Jane Aikin (or Aiken/Aikens) who married Robert John Harron (or Herron) in Bruce County probably around 1853. They had at least three sons: John (who married Mary Ellen Hayes), James (who married Susan Hayden), and William. All sons were born in Kincardine Township, Bruce County.
Mary Jane Aikin was born 1834 in Ontario. On the 1891 Lambton County census she is found living with her son James & his family. It shows that her parents were born in Ireland. In the 1851 Bruce County census Robert Harron is listed as single therefore he and Mary were married after 1851 in Bruce County.
I believe that Mary Jane's parents and/or siblings also moved to Bruce County.
Any information regarding Mary Jane Aikin or the Aikin/Aiken name in Bruce County (particulary those with Irish roots)in the 1850s or 1860s would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you,
Tammy

I am searching for information about Barbara.
Angus Smith (son of Neil) arrived in Bruce Twp. in 1855 from the Isle of Lewis. He went to the U.S. and spent many years mining in California and Nevada. He returned to Bruce Twp. in 1884 to marry Barbara. I have the marriage registration for them and her parents are given as Duncan and Christine A. McKenzie. He was 39 and she was 19 so I am assuming this marriage was arranged. They then went to Montana and lived near his brother Allan.
I have traced my Smith family and Angus from Lewis to present. I have not been able to find anything on these McKenzies. The birth date and place that I have for Barbara is 1865 in Toronto (from her death registration).
I need anything at all on Barbara. It seems she just appears in 1884. She is a real mystery.

John MARMION Death Rec or Cemetery

John MARMION and wife (name Unknown)had a son born 13 March 1851-1853 in Ontario,Canada. City unknown, but considering possibly around Sarnia Ontario or, in or near Brant?

John was born in England between 1820-30 so he and wife had to be in Canada when she gave birth to son James.
I have not been able to find anything on John MARMION: who is he married to. (waiting for marriage record from St.Clair County Clerk...hopefully this will include parents names).
Death Rec, Cemetery burial, ch record, census, etc. possibly belonged to Ch of England.

Desperate in MI.
Therese

Jeremiah Bell/Frances Farlow

We are seeking information on a Frances Farlow & Jeremiah Bell whom we believe to be a part of our family. They were both, according to the 1851 Canadian Census, born in Ireland. It is believed they were born about 1810. They apparently settled in and lived in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. Any information about the family, especially their parentage and location of their birth and families in Ireland would be greatly appreciated.
