Hi

I wish I read this message yesterday. I went to Merivale Cemetery and Bell's Corners Cemetery today. I did see Rivington's in Bell's Corners. The Untited Church at Bell's Corners used to be Methodist in the 1870's, until the Wesleyans and Episcopal Methodists Untied in teh 1920's. The Bell's Corners Cemetery is quite small. Maybe about 200 or so stones. The Ottawa Branch of teh Ontario Genealogical Society published the stones in the 1970's, and again in 2001. Visit http://www.internment.net OR Also the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid http://www.islandnet.com/ocfa That should help by index. You can also try http://www.ogs.on.ca/ogspi which is the Ontario Genealogical Society Provincial Index. it is surname searchable and has a lot of info submitted.

Andrew

I have been tracking my own Gillespie family line for 30 years but am still interested in finding any links to the descendants of John Gillespie of Billings Bridge, Gloucester Twp who married Elizabeth Ann Mulligan, b. Ireland, residing in Nepean Twp. They had nine children: William (1768-1943)& Lena Shore, John (1870-1950)& Lily Cook, James (1871-1970) & Ella Cummings, Elizil, my father, Samuel Gillespie (1875-1954) who married four times, Martha (1877-?) & John Shore, George (1878-1968)& Martha Shore, Bertha, Mabel. Most lived in the Ottawa area, one daughter went to the States, possibly Ohio. My great grandfather's parents were William Gillaspy and Eliza from County Down, Ireland who arrived about 1829-32. William and Eliza had four children including John, but also Saml, Maryan and Martha. William Sr. was stabbed in a fight and died Christmas 1841. Eliza later became involved with Saml Gillespie who lived nearby. Links are to Brockville where John Sr. died in 1916. After Betsy Ann died in 1898, he married his neighbour's widow, Mary Clifford, nee Davis, and had another child, Ruth Amy Gillespie (Walter Talmadge). Other family links are also to Hamilton.

Thanks Ronald and Ell. The marriage that you found Ell is unfortunatly not my Jean. She was born just outside GlASGOW 1905 .Her father was Samuel Mclaren mother Jessie Hay.I have her death certificate but there are a couple of mistakes such as her age it states 24 when she would have been 26 and her parents Samuel Mclaren Scotland mother Mary Scotland.I know from what my mum told me that the family lost touch and dont think her husband knew a lot about them, think he just gave a name .I know this is her but because of the streets and the Rosary hall where she had first went to was just over the back from where she lived when she married. She was a catholic and i tracked down the nearest R C chuch and it was St Patricks Basilica. The church that she attended in Scotland was also St Pats so im thinking there was a connection somehow with these two.I think she probably married in the Basilica and maybe this is where her funeral was.Thank you Marguerite.

The World War 2 databases do not have information on veterans but on those killed in action or died on duty. I would suggest that you contact the various Legions in Goulborn. Many of the churches also have lists of those who answered the call and there used to be a roll of honour at South Carleton High School, even though the school was built after the war.

Ron Dale

I have an obituary from a Mains in BC that is part of this family. I wrote to the funeral home after receiving but they could not give me any info. Ralph and I have swapped info but not sure if I had this included at the time. Ralph's wife is my cousin.

Henri,

Was your mother Laurette Bibaud? Jean Evariste was my Great Grandfather... his son Paul is my grandfather. My mother is Paul's daughter Paulette Bibaud. Roger Bibaud was my great uncle. The Bibauds in Massachusetts are my Uncle Edward's family.

I have been trying to tie your part of the family in... I hope I'm correct with my research!

Kathy In NJ, USA

He moved to Newcastle with his Father (Edward) when he was young.(late 1800 s we think)
James later married Ellen Oconnor, in Newcastle 21/05/1904.
Do these Names mean anything to you, if so could you let us know.
We are sorry we know nothing regarding the fiddle.
Yours
Gordon Jones
