Surnames: Broeffle/Bell/Merkley
Thanks for the tip....I searched the 1851 census at your suggestion and I am fairly sure that the Fanney living with the Casselmans is my Fanney. LDS record show a Henry Bell and a his wife, Margaret Merkley, had 2 sons Michael and Samuel. If Margaret is the mother of Fanney the Casselman's would have been her cousins. Also interesting that Michael and Samuel were also with other families in the 1851 census but Henry and Margaret are not listed. Since Samuel was born in 1844 it may be that something happened to them between 1844 and 1851 and the children went to live with other family members. Also my great-grandfather, Jacob Ira Broeffle, was the son of George Broeffle and Mary Merkley. Yet another connection to the Merkley family.
