I have done a lot of research on the Brownell family but not sure which family he belongs to.
Try www.automatedgenealogy.com which has this census and other year census - be sure to click on "split view" which loads the original image and you can study the handwritten data by the enumerator as many times the transcribed information is "best reading available". www.familysearch.org also has the census but at this point is transcribed & indexed and no image is available (yet). If I hadn't already known the given name was "Lovinia" - I would have really been confused as to what "Looinch" meant for a first name on the transcribed census.

I can tell you all about Ada May Brontmire. She's my grandmother. I'm in the process of doing the family tree on her side and also on her husbands.

She married Joseph Arthur Adrien Toupin on September 20, 1926 here in Cardinal. They had 15 children as well. I hope this helps.

If you have any information regarding her parents and their parents I'd love to have it. You can message me on here or offline if you'd like.

I've attached a photo of her and her husband Adrian. I know she was married after he past away to someone of hungarian descent but I don't know what his name was. It's why I can't find her death certificate anywhere. If anyone finds it can you please let me know.

Isaac Brownell

I am trying to find out the parent's of Isaac Brownell. Isaac was born abt 1819 around Williamsburg, Ontario. He married Diana Alguire (born abt 1834). I am wondering if he might of been the son of Joseph Brownell & Nancy Mattice. Joseph Brownell & Nancy Mattice were married in 1818. In later census it always mentioned that Joseph was single or widowed. If his mother died soon after he was born he could of been raised by some other family member. Isaac and Diana had children Simeon, Jacob, Jane, Charley, William, Alice and James. In the 1851 Census there is a Eva Warner (age 24) living with them. I have been searching without any luck hopefully some one will have some answers. Their son Jacob is buried in the Bowmanville Cemetery and brother Simeon is buried in Collingwood, ON., in 1934.

I have in my tree 10 Feb 1863 as his date of birth, in Carp, Ontario, and date of death as 1940 - nothing else.

Would you be able to provide a tool or resource that could confirm this exact information?

Harry BROWN; Eula GENOE

Hi there:

I thought I would take advantage of the Valentine's Day free trial this weekend and was hoping someone, somewhere in Winchester could help me unlock further clues and/or possibly more information on my great grandfather, Charles Harry Brown. My great grandfather went by his second name, Harry.

I haven't had much success in locating his resting place, a Certificate of Death, nor an obituary. Though I managed to locate Census Records confirming his existence and a Certificate of Marriage to my great grandmother, Eula Genoe.

Charles Harry Brown was born September 13, 1898 and I'm unsure of his exact date or cause of death. His father is Howard J. Brown also from Winchester and his mother, is Annie May Brown (nee: Hitsman).

I've had more luck finding information on the Hitsman side of the family tree by fluke than on the Brown side and was hoping someone could fill in the blanks about Harry and/or his father Howard.

Seems all roads have lead to a dead end and I was hoping to breathe new life into my research efforts...

Harry was married to Eula Genoe and my grandmother shared with my mother before her passing they stayed married up until his passing.

My great grandmother, Eula was born in 1907 and passed in 1967 and is buried in Capital Memorial Gardens.

My great grandfather, Harry was either a labourer or machinist and was described as a decent man.

My father mentioned to me my grandfather, Lyle Roy Brown asked prior to his passing if my father would be willing to ttake him somewhere. My father seemed to think somewhere like Windsor or Wendover - thought he wasn't completely sure.

If you have any information you can provide - including any historical photographs, I would greatly appreciate your help and efforts!

Philip Shaver and his descendents new stuff

I am a descendent of Philip Shaver, my Gx4Grandfather through his son Henry Shaver of Matilda, 1774-1838 and Henry's daughter Rachel 1802-1880.

I know his death was in 1838 from a statement under oath in documents from the Heirs and Devisees Commission in 1859.
I also know that from the same source, his son William born 1800, married Sophia Strader and moved to Winchester the same year Henry died, 1838.
Henry's baptism was recorded in the Dutch Reformed Church of Caughnawaga, NY 1774.
I have not yet found the name(s) of his wife or any marriage record but that marriage would have been about 1795. His first son Benjiman had died by 1850. I have found no record yet.
Son William who married Sophia Strader moved to Winchester near Winchester Springs 1838.
Elizabeth was born 1804, Mary was born 1810, Maria was born 1812, Jacob was born 1816 and Henry II was born 1825,
Rachel listed all has siblings in a petition of 1850 thinking she waas entitled to land as the child of a UEL. George F Shaver, s/o Peter also petitioned similarly and both were refused because Peter and Henry were the children of the UEL!
It is possible Henry was married twice given the span of years for his children's births.
Much more is known about Henry's younger brother Peter Shaver Esq. I am not sure where Henry is buried.
I do know the current genealogy for Henry, s/o Philip is not correct.

As mentioned Previously my Gt Gt Grandfather John Norris married Mary Minnie H Bristow born 1868 Stratton St Mary,Wiltshire. Her Parents were George Bristow born 1836 Marlborough,Wiltshire And Susan O'Rourke born 1846 in Dundas,Ontario, Canada. I have not found her embarcation to the UK date and am interested in who her family is and her parents name. If there is no "O" it may be of use but if you have the tree you will see her emigration date and that she and George had Five children with Mary the eldest 1868, followed by John 1872, Grace 1875, Ann 1877, Margaret 1879.
I look forward to your reply with eager interst.
I have a Ward Smith in my family history born about that same time. I have never found any other info on him. He went to the USA married and died in 1875 I believe. I don't have my records close by. There was another Ward Smith in Dundas County also. I'll check later to see if this is who I've been looking for or the other one.

Ward Smith in Winchester Twp., 1833

On March 27, 1845, Ward Smith made a land petition as a yeoman of Winchester Twp., Dundas County. In 1833, he had settled on the west half of Lot 16, Con. 5, a Clergy Reserve in the township. A correction of the survey lines had reduced the size of the lot and he wished to purchase it at its reduced value. The petition was recommended. It was noted that Samuel Smith had requested the other half of the lot (U537). I am looking for Ward's family history. Would he have been the same Ward Smith who was living along the western shore of Lake Ontario from at least 1812 to 1828? I am not related but researching militia documents during this time period.

This bit of info may be too late, but here goes anyway. There were Presbyterian churches located in both the community of "South Mountain" and the community that once was called "North Mountain" or just "Mountain". The church in South Mountain (I don't recall its name) has been closed for a number of years and converted to a private residence. I believe the church in the village of Mountain (Knox Presbyterian) still holds Sunday services.

Lynne Cooke a local genealogist and UEL descendant has amassed a large collection of information on Dundas Co. including various church records. Lynne lives in Morrisburg, Ont. and will let yu look through her library upon appointment. She has a web site where yu can get further information.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
