The connecting information was in the initial posting

"George was the brother of my grandmother Helen Bessie Deneau married name LAWSON." It is her not too distant relatives.

There are probably 15 records with the mother being listed as Sarah Pollard.

Hello Lynda,

My grandfather was George "Rube" Deneau, he died when my mother, MaryEllen was about 3 years old. I do remember an Aunt Helen. My brother Rick put together a biography of our grandfather which he has shared via wikepedia.

I know very little else...do you know the names of George's parents/grandparents?

Marianne

Elizabeth Kenyon b. 1855 Mersea m. John B Devore 1870

I have the original marriage certificate of Elisabeth Kinion[Kenyon] and John B. Devore passed down to me from my grandmother, Grace Edith Rooney Devore who married Daniel James Devore in 1906 in San Francisco. Daniel James Devore was the only child of Elizabeth Kenyon and John B. Devore.
I also have the original paper marriage certificate belonging to Elizabeth Kenyon and John B. Devore. The marriage took place in Gosfield, Province of Ontario, County of Essex on 15 October 1870, By the Rev. Rcd [Richard?] Herrington, Pastor of the Regular Baptist Church. The witnesses were Isaac Stockwell and Rebecca Getty. This marriage record can also be found in the Ontario Canada Marriages 1801 – 1928.
The birth registration of Daniel James Devour [Devore] is online, Canadian birth records No. 029685. Daniel James Devour’s [Devore] birth registration states his mother is Elizabeth Kenyon and his father is John B. Devoure [Devore]. The birth informant is Thos James Kenyon, (the grandfather, Gosfield). The birth is April 7, 1873. This record was difficult to find because the spelling is different from Devore.
I also have in my possession the original paper marriage certificate (although yellowed and deteriorating) of Thomas J Kinyon [Kenyon] of Gosfield Upper Canada, age 27 years,{indicates a birth about 1827} and Ruth Getty of Gosfield, Upper Canada, age 16. The witnesses were Maria Getty of Gosfield and Daniel Kenyon of Gosfield. Dated Detroit, September 16th, 1854.
From these records I have come to think that Thomas James Kenyon’s wife was Ruth Getty, and that he was the father of the Elizabeth Kenyon who married John B. Devore.
Researching Thomas James Kenyon online at Ancestry ( Library edition) I located a tree which indicates I have the correct Elizabeth Kenyon (married to John B Devore). However, the tree states that Thomas James Kenyon married Caroline Ruth Russell. I am wondering what the source is for Caroline Ruth Russell connected to Thomas James Kinion. I believe I have the correct Thomas James Kinion since one of the marriage witnesses is Daniel Kenyon of Gosfield. Elizabeth Kenyon’s mother is stated as Elizabeth Stockwell on this tree at Ancestry. (I don’t have an Ancestry subscription)
I am attempting to sort out this family. Three Kenyon families are listed next to each other in the 1861 Canadian census for Mersea. I believe these three heads of family are brothers(John, James, David). The 1861 census lists James Kenyon, Ruth Kenyon, and Elizabeth Kenyon and other siblings of Elizabeth Kenyon.
Additionally, with the same group of marriage certificates is the marriage certificate of Mrs. Elizabeth Devore of Gosfield to Mellborn Daniels of Leamington, province of Ontario by the Rev D.D. Burtch ordained Minister of the Regular Baptist Church on 24 March 1881. The witnesses were Peter Brunner and Mrs. Eliza Burtch.
Elizabeth Kenyon Devore Daniels is buried in the Olinda Cemetery under the name Elizabeth wife of Mellbourn Daniels aged 31 yrs, 10 mos, and 10 days. Using this information, her date of birth would be 27 May 1855. Her first husband John B Devore died, but I have been unable to locate any records. I assume John B Devore would have died between 1873 (birth of son) and 1881 (marriage of Elizabeth Devore to Mellbourn Daniels.)
Does anyone on this list have any suggestions on further research or any information on the Kenyon family? The family tree I located online links Elizabeth Kenyon to John Stockwell, United Empire Loyalist.
Any assistance/help would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping there are other Kenyon researchers who might have more information.
Mimi D., , Virginia, great granddaughter of Elizabeth Kenyon

I found this little tidbit - it looks like Minnie MERO had another marriage. So she is Minnie MERO TOWL FINN SLATTERY.

If you have access, her first marriage may be in the Drouin Collection at St Anne's in Tecumseh. One or more children could also be from this marriage.

From The Essex Free Press - 15 Feb 1907, page 7

"A Detroit dispatch of Tuesday says: A bridegroom who didn't know the surname of a bride-to-be, walked into the county clerk's office this morning for a marriage license. He is Wm M Finn, 34 years old a merchant from Tilbury, Ont. "I think her last name is Mero" he exclaimed to Marriage License Clerk Malott. "Aren't you sure?" he was asked. "No, I'm not." "Maybe she is divorced and keeps her name?" was suggested to him. "Well now, I don't know whether she's divorced or a widow," said Finn, scratching his head. "All I know is that she had a husband and hasn't been living with him for three years." " You'd better bring the girl here," said Mr Malott. Finn went out and returned in a few moments with his prospective bride. "My name is Minnie Towl and I'm a widow," she said. She gave her age as 27 and her residence as Tecumseh, Ont. They ___? have married by a justice of the peace.
Hi. Thank you very much for your reply to my post. My great grandmother Margaret was one of the home children. Margaret emigrated to Canada in 1899. Her brother Charles emigrated to Canada in 1897 and Grace emigrated to Canada in 1903. Margaret and Grace both ended up in Peterborough, Ontario. Margaret, my great grandmother married first William Johnston and had two daughters Grace Darling (born 1904 Peterborough, Ontario died 1988 Georgetown, Ontario) and Isabella Elizabeth - my grandmother born December 17, 1905 Peterborough died March 18, 1969 Whitby, Ontario). Then Margaret Patten Johnston married second Edward John Stephenson in 1911 and had three more children - Albert, Mary and Dorothy. Margaret died in Kapuskasing on August 25, 1938. My email is genseeker@rogers.com and I would be happy to share information that I have on the Darling and Patten families and I would be very interested in your information about the Darling family too. Thank you very much for your reply.

All the very best,

Kathleen

Hi I have just discovered a link to your family from England. I am related to you through the Home Children Margaret Charles and Grace Patten. The Patten family was Charles and Sarah Darling and their three children. I have just discovered Sarah died in the workhouse in Sunderland in 1906. She was the sister of my great grandfather William. I can trace these siblings back another three generations. Please let me know if you are still an active sight and if you want this info.
