This is also very interesting as Hugh is interchangeable with Ewan/Ewen and both names
are showing in the McPhee lineage. The McPhee's
among others, ie. Fraser, Chisholm, Grant, etc. were
on the Ship Glasgow from Scotland arrived New York
1775 and impressed into the Royal Highland Emigrants later the 84th Regt. 2nd Bat. in Nova Scotia.
Do not know where they were heading but suspect it
was the Mohawk Valley of New York State which during
the US Revolutionary War formed their own military unit under Sir Wm Johnson's son, while other loyalist
all went to Glengarry Ontario and other parts from
Quebec down to the Niagara area of Ontario. Do not
know if Catherine McPhee who married Mr. MacDonald
was a loyalist or with a military unit or direct from
Scotland into Glengarry Ontario. Thank very much for
your information. I am up against a brick wall as I need
to know Catherine's husband first name and area in
Glengarry that they settled in in order to get information
from Glengarry Ontario. I am gratefull for your answers because they give me an area to investigate. Thank you again. Alice
