Hello:
How lovely to meet someone from Knoydart, home of my McKinnon ancestors. I wonder, does your cemetery list include any of my people? Here is their story and chronology:

Archibald McKinnon, born circa 1815 in N. Morar, married Ann (maiden surname unknown) circa 1835. They moved to Samadalan, Knoydart and had four children, Alexander (b. 1836), Duncan (b. circa 1837), Catherine and Christy. By about 1847, Ann, the mother, and Duncan had died. Archibald returned to N. Morar to marry Janet Gillies in the chapel at Brocara (sp?) in 1848. They returned to Samadalan, Knoydart and had two sons, John R. and Angus and a daughter, Nancy (born circa 1852). The last Scottish census in which they appear is the 1851 census.

I have assumed they were aboard the Sillery, which sailed to Montreal in August 1853. They settled in Lancaster Twp, Glengarry County, Ontario and next appear in the 1861 Census of Ontario in that location.

Do you have any record of the Scottish births, marriages or deaths mentioned above?

Best Wishes,
Carol MacKinnon Annett
