Just a little aside on your 'Brewer' query . Cashion's Glen once had its own post office [ with Christy 'Young' Cashion as longtime postmistress], and there were apparently THREE closeby 'Hotels' . I doubt if these were true hotels with rooms to Let , but probably akin to Brew Houses , frequented by the Locals [remember the horse had to drive itself home LOL ]. The Scottish Grant family may have found this profession to their liking as it could serve to wet their whistle , increase their purse , and feed the pigs with the used grains .
