Anne, Jay and I had discussed the name Rory/ Roy offline. It does come from the Gaelic for "red," so maybe it's not significant in this case. But I was thinking that maybe it became a handed-down family name a generation or two later.
I was looking at the Ancestry trees (for what they are worth) and there was apparently a Roderick/Rory McDonnell in Glengarry b. 1740 with a dtr named Anne, but according to those trees, this Anne married an O'Brien. Can't put much stock in that, I know.
