Jay, I've just come across a 2010 posting of yours on this board regarding the McDonnell family that I think is relevant to our discussion here: "Roderick McDonell[b.1732] KRRNY [Roderick "Rory" McDonell settled with his son John Roy McDonald Sr.[b.1768];on LOT 19 Con 2 South Branch Raisin River---on north side of the river;just east of present day Holly Hill Riding Academy.Allan and Roderick were brothers; the sons of Captain John '6th Ardnabie' McDonell and Mary MacDonald."
This lot in 1874 is occupied by DJ and John McDonald and is one lot west of the Grant cluster where my John J. Grant lived. This seems to link Anne McDonnell who married Alex Grant to the line I'm researching, especially noting the names Roderick/Rory McDonald and John Roy McDonald, Sr. which could be the source of James Roy Grant's middle name.
