I forgot to say that James' baptism record reads, "James Grant, son of Alexr Grant of Charlottenburg (South Branch) and of Anne his wife, was born on the 13th and baptised on the 30th June [1799]." Note that Anne's maiden name is not given. Could there have been another Alex from that location with a wife named Anne?
