Anne, I've been meaning to send a note about this list of Alex Grant's children.
The son, John, b. abt. 1808 puzzles me. Obviously he was in the will or you would have noted his absence. I'm wondering where his birth date information came from?
I'm asking because the only John Grant, son of Alex, born in 1808 who shows up in the St. Andrew's baptism records is this one: "John Grant son of Alexr Grant of Charlottenburg (South Branch) and of Anne Cameron his wife, was born on the 11th and baptised on the 24th of June."
This is the entry which made me wonder if "wife Anne" with no maiden name given at the baptism of my James Grant might refer to this Anne Cameron. But if this John is in the will, then he should be the son of Alex Grant and Anne McDonell.
Or could it be that Anne McDonell died before 1808 and Alex remarried? I don't see an Alex b. 1810 or a Sarah in the baptisms either, though it's possible that I missed them when I was making the microfilm copies.
Would it be possible to get (I guess from your sister) a transcription of exactly how the will of Alexander is worded?
