Surnames: McLeod McCuaig
Roderick Òg McLeod, my 3x great grandfather was born about 1792 in Inverness-shire Scotland. He married and raised a family with Catherine McCuaig (1809). They lived at 22w.6 Lochiel and 17.6 Lochiel until his death in 1868. He and his wife are buried at St. Columba in Kirkhill. Òg or Oag is Gaelic for young. My assumption is that this is the equivalent of calling someone Junior and that Roderick Òg's father name would also have been Roderick.

There were two families headed by Roderick McLeods on board the "Argyle" when it sailed from Glenelg in 1793 along with Capt. Alexander McLeod and the 40 families who were the original McLeod Settlers of northern Lochiel. One Roderick McLeod was granted Lot 16.7 and the other Lot 30.7 Lochiel.

My assumption is that Roderick Òg, as an infant, was also on board the "Argyle" in 1793 and that he is the son of Roderick McLeod of Lot 16.7 Lochiel but I have no proof of this.

I have searched the book, "The MacLeods of Glengarry" and have not found family trees for either of the two Roderick McLeods. Have I missed them? If you are related to them or know the families I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,
Barry
