I am looking for information on my Great Grandmother's sister, Mrs. MARGARET HOWE who was resident in Donald, Ontario in February, 1956. She would have been quite an age at that time as her sister MARY ANN MOLLOY/MALLOY died on that date in Toronto, age 93. Margaret's maiden name could have been BRYANT or FOSTER. I would really like the name of her husband as well as her date of death and obituary (sometime after Feb. 1956) in hopes of pinning down her marriage cert.

I can be reached by email at johnb@pdcweb.net or at Box 639, Elora, Ontario, N0B 1S0.

any family history please

I have recently found my biological father& family(an experience which one can sum up as a cross between the Oprah show & Jerry Springer :)& with heartfelt gratitude to Haliburton residents Nancy Stinson as well as Murray McGuire-no relation though:)). However my new family can not offer any history on the names listed which I am anxious to acquire. The Maguires named are my paternal great grandparents and I am particularly interested at this time in my grgrandfather ancestory(His mother was believed to have been from area of Curve Lake(but not certain) and of native descent. I have no info about her husband(my grgrgrandfather). John Maguire was a stationary enigineer employed at the Haliburton mill(now the lumberyard)for most of his working life while Florence(nee Sherman) was actively involved in the Baptist, Pentecostal and Salvation Army groups. It is known that the family home upon their death was given to one of these churchs and a new home built on it which is today the minister's residence. Any info about John and Florence's(she was from Kinmount) ancestory would be wonderful. As for the name Stevens(Garnet, his relationship to me is that of paternal grandfather(I am the eldest daughter of his son Bruce -his mother is Leona). It is known that he died many years back and suffice it to say that his descendants (he married Lori Davies or Davis? with whom he had a son and daughter)who are my aunt( I believe she has died) and uncle are not aware of me(nor was Garnet). I would also appreciate any info about this family and their ancestory. I can be reached via email at peanut97@home.com I am also available by phone if desired-simply email me with the necessary info and I will get in touch at my expense(I reside in Alberta). I look forward to hearing from someone in the know :) Thanks Kim

I am trying to find a connection between Agnes Miller and Wesley Victor Baker. Wes is my grandfather's brother but for some reason he listed (Agnes Miller as his mother)on his marriage affidavit to Catherine Martha Curry on Nov. 1, 1919 in Haliburton. This is a puzzle as Wes's mother Elizabeth Oghiltree, died in 1905 and his father William Baker died in 1906 and did not remarry as far as we know. Does anyone know who Agnes Miller is? Thanks Marianne

am seeking the family of Frederick and Polly Johnson. They are in the 1881 census of Dysart Twp. They came to Dysart from Leeds Co., sometime betwwen 1872 and 1880. They are believed to have been buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. Frederick Johnson died at Dysart on June 15th, 1889. Any info would be appreciated. I would like to view the Cemetery records for Evergreen Cemetery if someone has these. Polly Johnson died at Dysart in 1911. According to the 1881 Census there were three children who were at Dysart. I have records of some of their other children who do not appear on the census. I posted this message a few years ago but since then , I have proven relationship to this family. I am searching for present day descendants.

D.R.
Inglesby Cemetery lookup needed - Archer, Burk

Robert Burk married Anna Archer, both were resident in the Haliburton area prior to 1906. After that date they moved to Temiskaming District. When Anna Archer Burk died in 1931 her remains were returned to Halibuton and buried in Inglesby Cemetery. Robert Burk, some time after 1931 moved back to Haliburton and is recorded as having passed away in Lochlin, Snowdon Township in 1933. He is also buried in Inglesby Cemetery. In 1931 the obituary for Anna it states that sons Alec, Levi and Robert Jr. all lived in Haliburton. I cannot find Inglesby Cemetery on the Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid. Would SKS be willing to do a headstone transcription for both of these persons (and, if I dare ask or hope, a photo of the headstone, if one exists).
If anyone has any information on either of these families I would appreciate any help you can provide.
Laurie
Manitoulin Island, Ontario

There is a Annie Baker buried at the St Peters cemetery in the St Peters Anglican church plots near the back. It is in Stanhope twp. I was told that Annie was born on the homestead on the Peterson road. She married my G Uncle Herb Fountain if it is the same Annie. They use to live on Maple Lake on their farm and had cottages. Uncle Herb was a carpenter. Her sister married Thomas Cruikshanks and she died young. Thomas was a farmer and they had two boys one Gordon and one Clayton. They used to live on the old 121 highway. When Annies sister died Thomas remarried my Great Grandmother Adeline Mary Mcmahon. Hope this helps Bonnie

Having just returned from Trenton, ON where I found an obituary for my g. uncle Frederick Ernest HIND, who died there in 1932, I am now anxious to trace the 5 daughters, 1 son and a brother who were recorded in the obituary of a local Trenton newspaper.

4 of the daughters were identified by their married names so I have no way of knowing who each daughter married.

1 daughter Mrs Carl Sweet lived & died in Trenton. The other 5 children lived in Maywood, ILL. - their names being:-Mrs Henry Nolen, Mrs Clyde Jacks, Mrs Ray Holm & Miss Annetta Hind & 1 son Allan Hind. His brother's name was Percy Hind who lived in Rochester (NY?).

Living in England I have not done any research in Canada or the USA. Can anybody give me some advise about how I can locate any of hese relatives and their descendants?

Any information and help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.
SMITH/SMYTH, John A. & Margret ??? Stanhope in 1881

I am searching for the maiden name of the wife of John Abraham SMITH/SMYTH. On the 1881 census of Stanhope John appears and is married, but Margaret's name is given as JONES as well as the two childen, Hannah G. & Mary Ann.
In 1871, they are in Whitchurch living beside his father James, but Margaret is listed as SMITH.
The on IGI I found a birth for Margaret Sophia thie third daughter, who incidentally died before the 1881 census was taken, stating that the mother was Margaret FAULKNER, but this has been shot down by the FAULKNER family historian.

I received the transcripts of the tombstone for John and the girls, but Margaret was not with them, at least not on the stone.

John was my 1st cousin -3x removed. His family originated in Whitchurch and the correct spelling is SMYTH.

Can anyone shed any light ont his family for me?
