Hi, Harry! There are many individuals with the name William Wensley. Therefore, can you provide more specific details on your William (e.g., middle name, place of birth, census data, etc.)? I know of at least 5 William Wensleys that lived in Ontario during the 1800's, but none were born between 1845 and 1855. Are you sure about the birth date? In the 1800's, there were four main groups of Wensleys in Ontario. They lived at Belleville, Wensley (near Vennachar), Collingwood, and Dysart/Halliburton. The first three groups were definitely related. The Halliburton group appears to be a separate branch. If your William was born in Ontario, then he was likely a member of one of these families. If he came from England, then that's a different matter. It's interesting that you mentioned the railroad business. I know of several Wensleys who later moved to Revelstoke, British Columbia, which has been a major railroading town for many years.
