Bratt/Britt family

Hi there,

My name is Kelly Lynn Britt Ellis and Thomas Bratt\Britt was my GG Grandfather and they farmed in Ottawa (Russel\Gloucester Township) just off Bank Street in the town of Greeley. My original ancestor was John Bratt who came from Newcastle Under-Lyne England and we have a copy of the original Land Grant that was granted to him in 1832 after serving in his Majesty's army for 14 years. The land he received was Lot 1, Concession 6. I have lot of information but am still connecting the dots due to the name change. I was always told that we were Irish and am assuming that he just only served in England before coming to Canada. I do know that John Bratt\Britt did live in Cornwall prior to coming to the Ottawa region to settle and served in the Militia while there. I have found copies of land census and voting census which lists both John and Thomas but have yet to find a burial record or death certificate as I do not have a firm date for birth or death. Please view my tree and contact me to share any and all records along with many many pictures.

Regards,

Kelly
