If I am trying a "fresh start" here, with what little I know, William Moffat, b. (according to tombstone) April 24, 1829,SOMEPLACE in Scotland, married Oct. 17, 1862 in Turnberry, Huron, Ontario, (witness was James Wylie) - his father was James, mother Elizabeth (no surname given unfortunately) to Jessie Thomson, lived in Glenfarrow Township when he immigrated to North Dakota in 1892 -
I borrowed the films from LDS church and followed that Wm. Moffat from Stirling, and he died in Scotland, so that is not my guy. Does anyone have a suggestion for a new place to look? I have a very old photo album (a few are even tin) with a photo of a couple, Wm. Moffatt esq. written on the photo,(no guarantee, of course, who it is) and the photo was taken on Elcho Street, in Peebles. I am just stumped, and looking for any suggestions on where else to look. I would really like to know WHERE in Scotland he came from, I am assuming sometime between 1850 and 1860, when he would have been 21 plus. I have never heard of any brothers or sisters of this man who may have still been in Ontario when he left.
