Reg enlisted in the army in 1941. He was sent overseas in October of that year where he was taken prisoner in December in Hong Kong and remained prisoner for 4 years. Upon coming home from the war he met and married Thelma Hager in 1946. Reg worked for the Town of Kenora before he was employed with the Minnesota Pulp & Paper Company for many years until his retirement.

Reg had many fond memories of his childhood growing up in Black Sturgeon with his family. Dad was an avid outdoorsman. He liked to hunt and fish. Many hours were spent on the lake during the summer at his cottages.

Reg loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play hockey. Everyone of his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Reg was a kind and gentle man never complaining and always seeing the best there was in life.

We know in our hearts that God has made a special place in heaven for Reg.

With tears in our eyes

And hurt in our hearts

Make Papa your angel

While from here he parts

Although times are tough

Remember our love
