Peacefully on October 8, 2001 with his family by his side Regis Lajeunesse was called home to be with the Lord.
Treasuring the memory of Reg is his loving wife Thelma. For almost 55 years Reg and Thelma spent their lives together making lasting memories for all of us.
Reg is survived by his son Dennis (Barb) Todd, Nicole. Daughters Pat (Dale) Tamara, Jon, Jason, Robert, Shirley (Ron) Rumpel, Crystal, Carla (Tom) Toddischuck, Melody Hagloff, Christopher, Cody, Makayla, Matthew, Lisa Harper, Justin, Marcel. Daughter-in-law Wendy, Clay, Ben, 2 great grandchildren Ciara & Riley.
Reg also leaves to cherish, 2 sisters Gay Nelson and Irene (Arcade) Loranger, 3 brothers George, Lawrence (Beatrice), Raymond (Joan), sister-in-law Marg Lajeunesse, his brothers-in-law Lloyd Paulsen and Stan Strecker. Godchildren Connie Ahola, Yvonne Robb, & Diane Paulsen, he will also be missed by several nieces & nephews. Reg will be also missed by his sisters-in-law Ruby Sanna, Viola Jackson and brother-in-law Carl Hager.
He was predeceased by his brother Joe, sisters Lucille, Agnes, Theresa and Tony. Reg also lost his son Cal in 1999. He was very close to his brother George and his brother-in-law Carl Hager.
Reg was a member of the Keewatin Legion #13, Hong Kong Veterans Association and was a member of the Water of Life Family Church.
Reg enlisted in the army in 1941. He was sent overseas in October of that year where he was taken prisoner in December in Hong Kong and remained prisoner for 4 years. Upon coming home from the war he met and married Thelma Hager in 1946. Reg worked for the Town of Kenora before he was employed with the Minnesota Pulp & Paper Company for many years until his retirement.
Reg had many fond memories of his childhood growing up in Black Sturgeon with his family. Dad was an avid outdoorsman. He liked to hunt and fish. Many hours were spent on the lake during the summer at his cottages.
Reg loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play hockey. Everyone of his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Reg was a kind and gentle man never complaining and always seeing the best there was in life.
We know in our hearts that God has made a special place in heaven for Reg.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons Robert Olson, Jon Olson, Ben Lajeunesse, Clay Lajeunesse, Christopher Hagloff, Cody Hagloff.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at The Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Lawson officiating.
