Just read your post. The yard was south of Tilbury yes and east of coatsworth. My father briefly worked there in 1953 after we came to Canada. Would love to see any pics you may have. I now live back in Ontario near Woodstock. I could come down to view any pics or info you may have. That would be great.

Bert Jansen

help on find obituary

I am trying to find an obituary or death notice on Ellen Clark. She was born Ellen Couthburt in Caledon about 1834. She married Oswell Clark and died 9 Sept 1899 in Chatham, Kent. Oswell Clark died 14 Feb 1907 also in Chatham. I am looking for death information on either one. I live in the US and would appreciate it if anyone in Chatham can check for me in the local library.

Shannon

I wonder if you are still "out there" after so long since your post about Jean Blewett.

I am interested in her also. See the Find a Grave website I posted as a tribute:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=67...

I am also interested in Archie P. McKishnie. I posted a tribute page to him at:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=mc...;

You mention that you are a descendant. Would you have photographs of Archie or Jean that I could post on their tribute pages?

I am in Kitchener, Ontario.

Daryl

dcsxnr05@sympatico.ca

Looking for information on David Ross (b. 1788 Monaghan Ireland d. 17 July 1872 Camden Kent Ontario) and his wife Margaret (nee Cunningham) (b. 1789 Ireland d. 1873 Kent Ontario)

My information shows them immigrating to Canada in 1848 with 4 children: John, William, Margaret and Eliza. They settled in the Camden, Kent area. My particular interest is with William Ross, who was my wife's 2xgreat grandfather.

I have information about the family after settling in Canada but am having major difficulty getting anything further about the family back in Ireland.

If you have similar interest or information plase get in touch.

Jim Davis
jbd729@yahoo.com

Thanks for your response, Terry. Since my original post in 2000, I have found more information on the Holmes/Wilson family.

My Holmes family came from Market Weighton and Pocklington, Yorkshire, England. My ancestor, Thomas Holmes (1839-1926), seems to be the only one of his siblings who crossed the pond. Thomas was in Market Weighton in 1861, and Sunderland, Brock, Ontario in 1871. I have recently found out that Thomas served in the US Navy in 1865 during the American Civil War, so it appears that he moved fairly frequently.

Thomas married Frances Elizabeth Wilson (abt 1843-1879), widow of William Henry, in 1871 in Sunderland. They had at least 4 children before Frances died in 1879.

Frances Wilson Henry Holmes, daughter of William Wilson and Hannah Carnell/Carnall, had 5 siblings, one of whom, Mary Ann Wilson (1843-1919), married Edmond Morrison (1839-1934)and they lived in Orford township, Kent County, Ontario. I found this information in "Commemorative Biographical Record of the County of Kent, Ontario"which contained a biographical sketch of the Edmond Morrison family.

So, I am not sure if you can tie in to this Holmes family or not. There was an Abraham Holmes in either Pocklington or Market Weighton; I don't remember which, but I could not connect that Abraham to my Holmes line. Do you know where your Holmes family was from?

Barbara

Hello: My name is Mrs. Marlene Russell and I grew up with a family of Phillips .The father was George or Albert Phillips married to Annie Phillips. This was in the late 1940's in Barrie ,Ontario ,Canada. There children were Harold, Evlyn, Myrna, Lorraine, John, Danny, George,Barry, Dolly, and one more son I believe. They lived on the edge of Barrie which later became Barrie. The father worked at an automotive place (scrap yard.)I hope this is helpful.
