Hi Martha, I am also doing some research on the Allen line. All I have is that my grandmother's father was Joseph Eugene Allen born in Chicago and was the son of a Charles E Allen who was a silversmith. Joseph and my grandmother later moved to Tampa in 1917. My grandmother was born in Chicago in 1901.
