Re: Kennedy-Lard/Laird
Hi again Charles- are we talking about two different Dr. Kennedys altogether? The Dr. Roderick Kennedy I was referring to was born, according to all online information that I can find, in 1822 at Cumberland House in northeastern Saskatchewan- his father Alexander Kennedy was the chief factor of the Hudson Bay Company. Dr. Kennedy's mother was a Cree woman named "Agathas" or Mary, last name perhaps "Bear". Very accomplished family.
I just thought that because Jane Ann was in Bath and so was Dr. Roderick, they MIGHT be somehow related. It would have been very unusual for Jane Ann to have moved there by herself without some family nearby, would it not? I see on the 1881 census she is listed as being "Irish" however, and not Scottish so if this information is correct, it may rule out a relationship to the Cumberland House Kennedy's.
Where did John Laird's father Peter Laird come from- what do you know about his background?
Nora
