Through the great kindness of the estate of the late Edma Dupuis, the Archives has acquired two Bibles from the Martin family of Portland (Frontenac county) and Camden township (L&A).
This is the "Tanner - Martin" line. The family name was originally Tanner, but was changed to Martin about 200 years ago, possibly due to a marriage difficulty.
The first Bible belonged to William Martin, a.k.a. "Father Martin" of Portland, Frontenac county, who was born in 1791. The second Bible belonged to Lewis Martin, born 1835.
We have transcribed the family information from these Bibles, which is not extensive but does total two pages. We will mail these paper transcriptions to anyone who thinks that this might be their line at no charge. But....
Please contact the Archives directly at the e-mail address above. Don't reply to this message "on list" as we may not see it and it will block up the Board !!! We need your name and full postal address in order to mail you the transcript.
